We spent two nights at the Village Inn, a week apart, and it was superb. On first arrival, we were greeted with the warmest welcome ever from Mark, even though the pub and restaurant were buzzing happily, and he already had plenty to do! The room was a wonderful sanctuary after a long drive. Teddies, lamps, coffee and warmth! We'd booked a table for the restaurant on arrival, and after a half hour lie down we strolled in for a hearty meal. The food here is excellent. A good, varied menu too. The restaurant is Olde Worlde with a wonderful wooden floor, with a smashing view of the Loch. We were served by Jackie, who was so warm and friendly, with excellent skills in service. Fab. In the morning, the breakfast was absolutely to die for. So much so that we didn't need any lunch! Plenty of it, and beautifully cooked. The service was very quick and pleasant again too.
Both times we visited, the staff were fantastic, but I have to give the award to Mark because he clearly puts his whole heart and soul into the job. Quite rare to find these days!
The rooms we had were on the ground floor. You can pay more for loch views, but our rooms, room 5 and room 11 were lovely. Warm, clean, roomy, well maintained. Room 11 has a massive bath with centre taps! Lovely! The beds here are COMFY! I always take my own pillows as a precaution, but I didn't need them here. They stayed in the car! (Plenty of room around the inn to park as well.) Lovely linen too, cotton rich, not polyester! Beds themselves are new looking. You either get teddies or a tartan cushion on your bed! I'm really fussy about beds and they passed my test! Superb all round. Outdoors, the scenery is marvellous. Lovely outdoor seating area to sit too. It's a very good touring base for Loch Lomond and the Highlands. I can highly recommend the Village Inn, and we will be rebooking! I actually can't wait to go back!

Great wee pub and grub at this inn. You can definitely put your feet up and relax in this bar. The breakfast in the morning was terrific and the staff were witty and down to earth. The room was clean and done the job perfectly. I would recommend this place for the banter with other users as people tend to be warm and friendly.

Room Tip: ask for a back room if you are walking or getting up early in the morning.

The really best thing about this hotel is its staff - they are really welcoming, friendly and cheerful, and greet every request with a smile.
It was a dark and stormy night when we arrived last Thursday, but we were cheered by the warmth of the open fires and the glow of the tealights spread everywhere.Downstairs the restaurants bar and lounges have wooden floors, but the stairs and bedrooms are thickly carpeted. Someone had taken the trouble to light the lamps in our bedroom making it lovely to walk into and see the nice old furniture and small table with wicker chairs in front of the large window overlooking the lake. The big double bed was extremely comfortable.
The food here is very good "pub grub" reasonably priced with huge portions. My husband had mussels each evening because he said they were excellent.
We were staying here for a family funeral, so a sad occasion, but we mean to go back for a holiday.
We would definitely recommend The Village Inn, especially for walkers and other outdoor enthusiasts with large appetites!

When we arrived we were greeted by a very friendly lady. Hotel was lovely and cosy with warm log fires. Rooms were also cosy - we stayed in one of the rooms around the side of the hotel. Unfortunately the wifi wasn't picked up in this room, although when somewhere as beautiful as arrochar it wasn't the end of the world. We decided to eat dinner in the hotel on the fist night of our stay. We didn't receive as friendly a welcome from the male waiter and after bein seated he didn't come to take our order. Instead he stood talking to the barman at the bar. After about 15mins we had had enough and had to ask to have our order taken. We were very disappointed and decided we wouldn't go back there to eat the next evening. However the next night we did decide to go back because the food had been so good and we were tired from hiking alldat, we were very glad we did. This time there were two ladies working and they were fantastic. They couldn't have been more friendly or attentive and they completely changed our perception of the hotel. The lady serving breakfast in the mornings was also fantastic and made Us feel very at home. The only other issue we had apart from the poor service the first evening was that our room was left unlocked after routine cleaning. This really worried us as we had valuables in the room. Overall, a cosy hotel with great food, brilliant value for money and lots of great walks etc nearby

We found that the staff couldn't do enough for us and looked after our every need. We have an 8 month old and they were so helpful with high chairs, spare sheets, heating food. To be honest anything we needed.

It's a lovely little hotel with a great pub / restaurant attached. We had a room with a view and it had everything we needed.

Arrived there on Friday and stayed until today (Sunday) was a good deal at £80 and was looking forward to it. Unfortunately it didn't live up to expectations, primarily because of one particular female member of the serving staff who treated us shabbily on the Friday evening in the restaurant, forgetting us, even forgetting the bread starter, while attending to other tables. Upon complaining we were told not to be "obnoxious" and heard her saying "sorry about them" to another table of diners! How very professional! Next day at breakfast this lady took our breakfast order -then we waited..then 45 minutes later, she asked us how was breakfast, we replied we hadn't received it! Another 20 minutes later it arrived, so over an hour after the initial order. She then blamed the chef who was "just back from holiday"! We both believed this was her way of getting back for complaining the night before. I would have given this place only a one star rating but the other staff were good and one young lady was particularly nice early yesterday evening (sat) in the bar. We were a bit disappointed to be given a room at the back of the building seeing as we were there earlier than those who got these rooms, but the bath was nice, though the shower-head was faulty, spraying water in various directions, soaking the floor and changing temperature from cold to burning hot constantly. Will not be rushing back.
