We traveled to McMinnville to visit family for the 4th of July holiday. It was difficult to find a hotel because there were events all over the area. I had a reservation at the America's Best Value Inn. When I arrived, they'd messed up my reservation (smoking room). Despite the fact that I could show my confirmation for nonsmoking, they had not other rooms available. The place was a wreck anyway, so I took this as an opportunity to get my husband to let me stay at Falcon Manor (which I'd been begging to do in the first place).
With absolutely no advanced notice, the great folks at Falcon Manor got us into a king room in the General Manger's Cottage. We received a key to the cottage and the quick tour of how to use the phone, internet, etc. A short while later, they were able to reserve the other room in the GM Cottage for our family to join us the next day (an unexpected treat). To top it off, they delivered the lunch that I ordered directly to our room while we unpacked. The lunch basket was delicious (chicken salad croissant, frozen fruit salad, sweet potato fries, brownie, and pink lemonade).
Breakfast, brought directly to us, was incredible every morning! It always included fruit, bread/pastry, a meat and/or eggs, and beverages (OJ, coffee, and milk). Plenty for even my husband.
The spacious room was clean with all of the necessary amenities. The GM Cottage has 3 bedrooms, so it would be perfect for a family or friends traveling together. The property is lovely. The staff (owners) that work the whole property are very friendly and laid back.
My only draw back is that we had to pay the normal entrance fee ($10! each) to tour the house, and the tour felt rushed. We were the only people on the tour, and I wanted to really look at the furniture. Our tour guide just barreled on, even turning out the lights on me at one point. I felt like we should have received a discount or even toured for free since we stayed there for 3 nights. Nonetheless, the house is beautiful and the stay was a pleasure.
