I first have to say that I have stayed at this hotel on many occasions and I did rate it as my favourite hotel in Scotland. That has changed and I will not be going back there again. I booked Cameron House for a party of 18 people as part of a car club driving holiday. I was so upset when I saw the building and alteration works that are ongoing right now and not even a word of warning from the management. Very little car park space near reception area and NO lounge bar facilities as they are being re-decorated. The only bar at the moment is the cocktail bar for the fine dining restaurant with prices that are overpriced. Why not reduce the prices during this renovation work? £5.50 for a bottle of Bud is disgraceful. To get to our rooms we had to negotiate another floor up then back down and then the view was to a building site. What a disgrace! So much for the lovely view of Loch Lomond. Why did I pay £2,400 for such poor service? Never again!

“Excellent !”

Wonderful Hotel in a lovely setting. We booked a late deal so I was a bit dubious before I got there but the room was great and the staff, food and facilities were everything I would expect from a 5 Star.
Would definitely recommend the loch cruise - it isn't cheap but it's a great way to travel in style!

“What a shock! Very disappointed - go elsewhere”

What a bizarre place - beautiful setting, staff who couldn't do enough for you yet the rooms and most parts of the hotel are not just shabby and outdated but filthy and rundown. There is a also a whole new modern part of the complex tacked on the side which has the leisure centre and sports bar in it. I imagine this is what budget family holiday-centre type facilities are like and was not at all what I was expecting in a luxury hotel when paying GBP240 per night.
The staff were friendly and eager to help and when we complained about our room (stained walls, rubbish from other guests under the bed, stinking of smoke even in the bathroom although non-smoking, light fitting from single light hanging out of the ceiling, small bed and seriously shabby furniture - you didn't dare sit down) they took swift and decisive action which went some way to remedying matters. This after our room was not ready for check in when we arrived at 6.30pm!
The hotel is undergoing a lot of renovation and although not especially intrusive meant the business centre was not open for example and no facilites have been made available for internet use if you have not brought your own laptop. However the parts which have been done (cocktail lounge and smart restaurant )were very nice indeed.
It might be very nice once the work is done in a few years time but for now go elsewhere, we're talking not basic its much worse and value for money is below zero. Stay at beautiful Hotel du Vin in Glasgow and travel out of the city to see the Loch.

“Didn't quite meet expectations”

Really expected this to be a super-luxurious end to our holiday and we stayed for two nights. Received a great deal which included dinner on one night and a free 'champagne cruise' on Loch Lomond.

Arrival - impressive - lovely grounds, greeted by valet who assisted with luggage then parked the car for us, receptionist was friendly and luggage was delivered to our room within minutes.

We booked two rooms and one room was upgraded to a suite - which was wonderful as we had a marvellous view of the Loch and a separate sitting room for our 2 young children to sleep in. The room was showing a few signs of 'wear' - i.e. the odd stain on the carpet and marks on the wallpaper etc - but overall it was spacious, clean and had a lovely bathroom. Well equipped with minibar, 2 tv's, hairdryer, trouser press, tea and coffee facilities, internet access, iron and board etc.

We were disappointed only by two things - (1) the creche (which looked great) was not open at all during our stay and this had not been mentioned to us by central reservations, (2) the Georgian Room and Drawing room were closed for renovations and this had also not been mentioned to us.

The cruise on the Celtic Warrier - the hotel's private boat - was wondeful. The two guys who ran the trip were young, keen, very informative and very friendly. The 'champagne' cruise only consists of one complimentary glass - any further drinks are payable - but it was a lovely 90 minute trip on the loch and is well worth doing. (Normal price £32.50 pp)

The leisure facilities were great - lovely pool with baby pool, kids pool and slide, and adults section. The gym was big and well equipped and there were two squash courts and a small health and beauty salon (definitely prebook any treatments as I struggled to get an available appt).

Overall - a great hotel in a really beautiful location - the staff were good, just check facilities are definitely open when booking or you may be disappointed!

We were on a brief trip to Scotland and this was our first and best night. The hotel was great, gym and pool facilities could not be better(great view from the treadmill) Staff welcoming and friendly. We ate in the Mariners restaraunt which was a 5 min walk away, again staff great and food delightful. Would definately recommend staying here.
