Just returned from a Shearings 5 day entertainment break, the hotel, food and staff were really good, everwhere was clean and tidy, its best to upgrade your room too. What failed was the so called entertainment side of the trip.
Monday featured a singer, Margaret Zavaroni, what an an utter waste of time. Gary the resident entertainer tried really hard to put his turns over but sadly failed a lot of the time.
The films shown in the afternoons showed ancient clasics like The Pyjama Game and Indiana Jones, real relics of the past !!
There was not one spot of any type of dancing offered, a tea dance or an hour spot in the evening would have been a bonus, so the only alternative was to sit and survive the very limited and spaced out Scottish Piper and some Scottish dancing, the only saving grace on the last night was a short turn by a great singer who done about six songs from the musicals. So overall what could have been a really good break was in fact a very damp squid with endless hours of just nothing. No wonder they give you a £50 in house spend, its to drown your disappointment.
Plus, as usual its a late arrival at the hotel on day one, and an early departure when you leave, cases out at 6.30 a rushed breakfast and out at 8.00, why, life should'nt be that rushed.
Could have been a really good break, but would not return because of the lack of decent entertainment.
