“One of the best hotels in Scotland”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2011

Wellpark is the home you wish you had. We stumbled on this bright elegant shoreside hotel by chance and were warmly welcomed even though we arrived unannounced. As it was out of season we were offered the best room at a great price - a foretaste of the straightforward honest good service that is this place's trademark.
The bedrooms are extremely luxurious with incredibly comfy beds and rich drapes and soft furnishings. The building is Scottish Victorian down-the-water architecture at its best. High ceilings, double aspect sunny rooms and beautiful woodwork. All rooms have private bathrooms obviously, but the pick of the crop has to be the one with the original roll top bath and arts and crafts tiling which whilst a bit quirky in the taps department is a total gem. Presumably it dates back to when the building was first conceived as a spa by the doctor who built it.
The highlight of the stay had to be Ann's food. An extremely accomplished chef she has a knack of cooking really good ingredients simply and to perfection. The other thing that is really telling is the way that the staff know which local farm or supplier has produced the food.
The public bar and drawing room area are congenial spaces to relax after dinner by the fire and to meet a few locals.
Special mention to Morag who's easy going competent service and quick sense of humour really made our trip.
We've been back several times and have recommended Wellpark to many friends all of whom loved their time there.
Not sure why trip advisor has it as a B&B as it is a full service hotel as far as I can see.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2010

This is the best Hotel in the area, can't be faulted. I booked The near by Royal but have to cancel due a family illness, they said I could off set the cancellation fee against my next visit but the owner was very unfriendly when I tried to rebook and would not allow any discount and tried to charge me the full £95 rate over the phone saying the Hotel was full and the web was offering rooms at £75. To say they were full is not true as I went in the Royal Hotel during my stay and it was diserted. I would say it was empty. Every time you go on the booking web sites it says only two rooms left which is a con. Myself and my business parteners will be looking forward to staying at the Wellpark in future and I will travel ther on my holidays
