“Enjoy the outdoors and gourmet meals”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2013

Walk in the woods with the chef, pick greens or truffles, enjoy the fresh ingredients in your evening meal. Other than being home, how much more intimate could it get? Our large room overlooked the loch. We walked the grounds during the day and enjoyed cocktails in the drawing room before heading into the dining room for a generously portioned seasonal meal. After dinner, we sat in a small parlor bar and enjoyed the company of other travelers. The hotel is remote, but worth the experience. Planning a destination event? I earnestly suggest you check out the Ardanaiseig.

We stayed here at the end of October and had the most magical two days. The scenery, drive, setting, welcoming and warm staff, together with delicious food made for a very special time. The hotel is not new but its charm - like a characterful old property- is precisely because of this. Highlights for us was the views from the triple aspect windows over the loch, an extremely large and comfortable four poster bed and seasonally delicious food. yearning to go back - thank you to all for making out honeymoon so amazing. I stayed here as part of a large group for a 4oth birthday party and it was fabulous. Staff were welcoming and friendly, our room (Inishail) was beautiful with stunning views over the loch and our dog was made very welcome, being allowed everywhere in the hotel except where food is served (understandable!). The food was all first class and for a property which is SO remote it is incredible that they can produce such high quality, so well. The only slight issue we had was the drive, but we were aware that it was remote so were prepared. All in all, 5 out of 5 from me.

Room Tip: If travelling in Winter, try and arrive during daylight hours as you may well miss the turn off in t...

We decided in september to treat ourselves for our wedding anniversary, I can only say the hotel exceded all our expectations. The road up to the hotel takes all your concentration but whenever Ardanaiseig comes into sight you know your in for a treat . The grounds are massive and well worth exploring, the loch is beautiful, and a boat is available for fishing trips. Our room was fabulous overlooking the loch and the bed was the most comfortable i have ever slept in.Everything was perfect, The staff were very attentive and helpful and in particular the dinning experience is out of this world. The head chef Gary is devoted to food and it shows, the 5 course meal was a delight ,well worth the money everything is homemade and absolutely delicious.I cant wait for the experience to be repeated.

Room Tip: If you can afford it, the boat shed looks to die for.

We stayed here for two nights in November, having booked through secet escapes, and we were not dissapointed. The room and bathroom were excellent, very clean. The heating had a few 'issues', probably due to the building being so old. Due to the age, size and location of the hotel, it doesn't have
some of the facilities you might expect from a modern hotel, but then that is all part of the charm. So, don't expect 24 hour room service etc.

The location is certainly in the middle of nowhere, and it was a fair drive to get food anything else, so we found ourselves mostly eating at the hotel - which was no bad thing as the food was excellent - although it's not cheap. Our food and drink bill was about the same ascost of the room, so you should budget accordingly.

The hotel grounds are huge, and there are some good walks to build up an appetite for 5 course dinner. If you like to try lots of different things for dinner, the sampler dinner is very good, and takes about 3 hours all in, and at £50 a head, isn't cheap, but my girlfriend and I both felt it was definitely worth it. I would defintely go back, and I would definitely recommend it for a quiet romantic break.

Room Tip: Take some snacks etc with you, as getting any food outside normal meal times is difficult. And take...

We stayed at this hotel just a few days ago. It is in a very remote area of Scotland (just south of Oban) and set in its own grounds, which were beautiful even in the winter, and it is in the waterside. the hotel was lovely and warm very welcoming, and the staff were great. friendly and helpful. We had a room at the back of the hotel which had one of those baths set in the middle of the floor and was really comfortable and deep. The food was exceptional although you need to adjust to the relaxed attitude of the setting which meant that sometimes it took a little while to serve but as the lounge and dining area overlook the grounds it is not a chore. Wlaking, relaxing, reading are the activities to think about when visiting this hotel It is not cheap but gives value for money

Room Tip: We had a look at the loch facing rooms and they were lovely, but quite a bit dearer and at this time...

I personally booked three rooms directly with the hotel for two nights for a wedding party and was overcharged by £100.00 per night for one of the rooms. Although I had email confirmation of my booking and the cost, the manager refused to refund the overpayment unless I first agreed to him discussing it with the groom, who was by then on his honeymoon. Apparently, the general manager of this particular hotel does not have authorisation to authorise refund of an overpayment. [Eh???]
And the £250.00 per room per night was room only, with an additional £15.00 per person for breakfast.
A nice place, but just beware and check your bill very, very carefully.

Room Tip: Check carefully when you arrive as I was given a room at the back rather than the loch view I had bo...
