This hotel is in a perfect positon, on the edge of the loch.Tthe staff were all very helpful and had lots of suggestions of walks to do. The rooms, we had a suite and king size twin room, were lovely the views from the suite outstanding. the bathrooms were both clean and well equipped.
The food was incredibly good, the chef has won awards and you can see why.
Strontian is very handy for exploring the sunart and ardbamurchan penninsulas, close to fort william, but as the roads are single track, no coaches full of tourists, very, very beautiful part of the country with wildlife sightings too.

We stayed here for 3 nights. I had visited Strontian and the Ardnurmurchan peninsula before but this was the first time at Kilcamb. What a lovely location, overlooking the loch which is just a few steps away. Our room looked out onto the water and was traditionally but tastefully decorated and very quiet,. From the owners to the waitresses the service was faultless and the food was excellent indeed there was nothing I would change other than making it easier to get to! But then again that's part of its attraction, it is on the edge of some wild and remote areas and yet is an oasis of luxury.

from the moment we turned the car into the drive and the loch and hotel appeared my wife and i, in unison, said wow! set in stunning scenery on shores of loch sunart, equally stunning! we were welcomed by a little welcome note with our name on it and room number, which made us feel very special! the room was delightful, and spotless and i mean spotless!! the staff especially gordon and ann were exceptional! being a gardener i appreciate just how much work goes into keeping the grounds in the delightful manner they are presented! The chef, Tammo, well..i can only say being very traditional in my food tastes, he has opened my eyes to a new level and experience of food! you MUST try the special 7 course gourmet diiner, it is outstanding! in the 1st 4 courses i counted 11 items i have never tried and would never normally order, but it all was truly superb!
Breakfast equally as good, homemade bread, scrambled egg with cream and chives, locally sourced ingredients, all made it a spectular feast for the eyes and mouth!
All the staff were attentive and polite and the owners even shook our hands before we left, and if im honest, i didnt want to leave! A complete relaxing package!! Just one regret, i wish i had never booked another hotel in aug for our pearl anniversary, as i can think of no better place to celebrate our event! but we will be back in october!
Tip... you need the correct fare on the Corran Ferry £6.40.
Tip..bring walking shoes, there are numerous forest or loch walks within close proximity.

We were utterly enchanted by Kilcamb Lodge from the moment we pulled into the sweeping driveway to the time we waved a reluctant farewell. Its location beside the loch is breathtaking, and the tranquility of the place is impossible to capture in words. All I know is that if it was available on prescription I would take it for the rest of my life.

We were warmly greeted by Sally and Anna and shown to our beautifully appointed suite. It was impossible to fault the fixtures and fittings (a rare delight to find the perfect combination of plug sockets, mirrors and hair-dryers in such a charming old house!). We were particularly tickled by 'Lord Monty' - the friendly stuffed reindeer who served as a novel alternative to the 'do not disturb sign'. It put a smile on our face to see the little row of Montys standing guard along the corridor after dinner.

Dinner itself was sensational. We chose the seven course tasting menu and had no hesitation in awarding it our 'dinner of the week' for it's creativity, presentation and exquisite use of local ingredients. (Prior to this evening we had been fortunate to eat at some of Scotland's finest, award-winning restaurants - a special feature of our holiday this year). The waiting staff were a little brusque at times and lacked knowledge (and passion) for the dishes. But with such a diverse and exciting menu I'm sure it's a challenge for the Chef to keep everyone up to speed. The attention we received in the drawing room over coffee and the food itself, more than made up for any slip ups in the dining room.

After a gentle stroll along the loch and some optimistic (but illusive) otter-spotting, we spent a peaceful night in our cosy room, secretly wishing for a harder mattress but quite prepared to accept that we are probably the exception to the norm.

Breakfast was another gourmet treat, with a fine choice of local specialities and fresh ingredients. We really can't recommend Kilcamb Lodge highly enough on every level. It surpassed our expectations and we'll definitely be back. Thank you to the whole team for making us feel so special - even for a one-night stay!

We went to Kilcamb to celebrate my partners birthday, we were not disappointed. We were warmly welcomed by Anna who immediately wished my partner a Happy Birthday and showed us to our beautiful suite with Loch View. The newly refurbished bathroom was superb.
We were given the best seat in the house for dinner which was wonderful and beautifully presented. The staff couldnt have done enough for us and the little touches made all the difference. Our Petit fours were served on a plate with "Happy Birthday" round the plate.
Thank you Kilcamb for making a birthday we will never forget.

First, my one gripe...I can't give 6 stars!!! My wife and I chose this hotel in which to celebrate our Silver Wedding Anniversary, having never been to Scotland for a holiday before. From our very first contact by email and telephone, to our last when we said (a sad) farewell we could honestly not have had a better experience. The hotel manager, Ann, was helpful, friendly and professional at all times, happily arranging some flowers for my wife at short notice (no I hadn't forgotten!!), advising us on places to visit, and always smiling. All the staff were friendly, cheerful and so willing to help, but never intrusive...just anxious that you were looked after. Staying, as we did, for five nights means we know that this is the rule, not the exception. Our room was on the front of the hotel, with the best view we could have asked for. The room was large, very comfortable and the bed so big that I think it was the furthest we'd been apart in 25 years! The loch is so tranquil and scenic, and the fact that the sun shone for 4 of our 5 days meant it looked glorious too. Turning to the food, we found it to be not only of the highest standard in taste, but in presentation also. The fact that guests are asked to dress appropriately for dinner seems to me to be a way of giving the chef, Tommas, the same level of respect that he so clearly gives in creating the varied courses. Some contributors have baulked at the cost of dining, but I can assure you that you can pay considerably more in London, and elsewhere, for an atmosphere like a disco and an outside view akin to looking at a row of shops. Finally the hotel ambience. When you have been out most of the day, to walk through a front door to be met by the smell and warmth of a roaring log fire is a joy. The Lounge and Drawing Rooms, where guests can elect to have their evening coffee served, are both beautiful and comfortable. They also provide a lovely relaxing place to while away some time simply reading a book. Many many thanks again to Ann, Anya (hope that Restaurant Manager role is second nature now),and all the waiters, waitresses and housekeeping staff who all made for a memorable stay. Obviously thanks as well to Mr and Mrs Fox who set such high standards - you have a great team there. We've talked of little else but our next visit, since we returned home. One thing we are sure of....we won't wait 25 years before we visit again.
