“Fine food and luxury in a stunning setting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2012 via mobile

My wife and I were married here back in 2005 and have been coming back ever since. The hotel is excellent with a very personal service that makes you feel very much at home. The views from the loch view rooms are wonderful, Strontian has to be one of the best kept secrets of the highlands! Our most recent visit was just to dine in their resteraunt, as usual the food was superb with expert and friendly service. We will definitely be coming back; all the way from Lands End in West Cornwall, Kilcamb really is that good!

We stayed on the way up to the Outer Hebrides and on the way back--- The Breakfast range and quality of food is the best I have eaten having stayed at numerous hotels in the UK and beyond.
The quality of the food for dining is such that if the restaurant was in London you would have to book a table months in advance. The accomodation is comfortable and in a great setting in a very underated area of Scotland.

Room Tip: Only ever stayed in a loch view room /suite--- all OK

A hidden gem in the Ardnamurchan peninsula! My wife found this place when we decided to get away for a quiet few days away from city life and airport travel! Scotland is blessed with many fine small country hotels and although this is one of the more remote, it is surely one of the finest and best value on the West coast. It seems to attract an interetsting clientele with whom it is easy to engage because of the intimate atmosphere.
The hotel is based on a historic site on the banks of the Loch Sunar and the welcome from the attentive staff was war and friendly. Lots of nice rooms in which to lounge and pass time reading or looking out at the stunning views. The bedroom was well appointed, spacious and well maintained. Shortbread and tea in the room was a treat and did not detract in any way from the dining experience. Excellent food made from local produce. On different nights tried the scallop & crab cake and the salmon terrine. The twice cooked belly of pork and lamb were excellent but leave room for the desserts. If there was any criticism, I would have liked to have seen a more extensive wine list to accompany the wonderful range of food.
I though that this was value for money and will return regularly! A great place to stay for a short break.

We have just returned to this wonderful hotel, having stayed on several occasions during the last 5 years. Sally and David Fox continue to move Kilcamb forward seamlessly, and have lots of lovely ideas for the future. The hotel is a wonderful, relaxing, country house hotel, the well presented food is absolutely delicious, and the staff are all very friendly and helpful. Our dog (Monty) is always happy to go there as he can run to his heart's content in the grounds and, at the bottom of the garden, he can swim in Loch Sunart .... and all before breakfast! He is even more pleased now that Sally and David's lovely little dog, Milly, wants to run, play and swim with him. The Ardnamurchan Peninsular is a wonderful area to explore, and Kilcamb Lodge is the perfect place in which to relax and enjoy fine dining. We can't wait to return to this little bit of heaven.

Room Tip: No tips necessary, because all of the rooms are beautifully decorated, furnished and appointed. We...

We would thoroughly recommend Kilcamb Lodge for a perfect getaway. Unpretnetious, well appointed and welcoming [with excellent staff] we enjoyed two nights at the Ruthven-Fox's hotel/restaurant. The food was delicious with a varied and imaginative menu - not too much but just right for middle-aged diners! And the setting is lovely and there are plenty of places to visit/see around the Ardnamurchan peninsula. Well worth the trip.

Room Tip: You must stay in a room overlooking the loch

My husband generously treated me to an evening of fine wine and dining here last weekend! What a lovely hotel with great staff/owners who were attentive and made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in the door. We ate in a cosy dining room and the food was fantastic. A taste explosion with every bite! It is certainly not the cheapest option around, but it was worth every penny for that special experience. A fantastic end to an extremely active and enjoyable holiday on the Ardnamurchan peninsula. Highly recommended!

Room Tip: Didn't stay overnight but can imagine the rooms to be in keeping with the downstairs interior...

My wife and I decided to give the West Coast of Scotland a try for a short break this summer after many years of foreign holidays. On arrival at Kilcamb Lodge we were immediately impressed by the wonderful location right on the edge of Loch Sunart. Our initial favourable impressions were reinforced by the very tidy grounds and well kept building.

We were welcomed by a very courteous member of staff and shown to our room which was absolutely beautiful and spotlessly clean with a wonderful view over the loch.

The food was excellent and the staff were friendly and well ttrained and it was clear that everyone made a real effort to make our stay special.

We can certainly recommend this hotel and plan to return again in the future.
