Seaview chalets Strontian
This was our first week of a three week tour of Scotland, on Sunart and Morvern, taking in Ardnamurchan, ferry to Isle of Mull, Fort William and ferry via Ardgour/ Onich to gain quick access to Glencoe and Glen Etive and other Western Highland areas, which were all within a 6 hour round trip of our location.

Pluses, and we did not know what to expect, were the picture postcard views out of the chalet windows over Loch Sunart, which were stunning in all weathers, though we were blessed with a lot of sun on this trip. Also the log cabins were all spaced out separate from each other, surrounded by woodland and heather, so you would hardly know any of the other log cabins were there. Situated up a steep hill, each log cabin is positioned to take maximum advantage of the views. We also liked the relatively large bedrooms and the separate galley kitchen and homely lounge.

Minuses included rather a lot of cobwebs, which, being the owner of a cleaning agency, I had come fully equipped to deal with (bringing my own specialist vac cleaner!). Also the front door lock was a mystery, with the handle assembly out of position relative to the key hole, making inserting the key to get in or out a complicated process. This culminated on more than one occasion in the handle assembly falling apart and plunging to the floor. Held on only by two loose screws, I pointed out the problem to the owner, who commented he was always having to tighten that door handle. I said it might have something to do with only having two out of the original four screws remaining; the owner agreed. Also the bath and sink plug had presumably been replaced at some point, as they were slightly smaller than the plug holes, so the water went out of the bath/ sink at much the same speed it went in (bath resolved by wedging a flannel around the plug).

However these were minor inconveniences, more than offset by the location, the views, and the stunning tours and walks we had in the area. The place felt homely and we and the dogs were very happy with our choice. We would go back here, which says a lot as normally I will always explore somewhere new rather than go back to a place I have already been to.

We are glad you found the lodge homely and the views and the location so good. I can only apologise for the cobwebs, and have told the cleaning staff to be extra vigalent , especially in the high areas we take cleanliness very seriously so appreciate the feed back. The door handle has also been repaired

With regard to the leaking bath, we discovered that the bath enamel had corroded under the outlet which was unseen until the bath was removed, we assume it had never been reported as the bath is so rarely used since the installation of showers. As a result of this we have fitted a complete new bathroom suite and laid new wodden flooring in the bathroom and also the kitchen.

We hope to see you back in Strontian and thank you for the review
