“A little gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2013

We only stayed one night but Jim & Ellie made us feel completely at home. We had an evening meal on the Thursday night and it was simply delicious. We did however find the bed a little on the hard side but we both had a good nights sleep so I guess it couldn't have been that bad. Room was spotless and functional. Would definately return.

Three of us stayed overnight on a touring holiday. We all found the rooms and facilities very comfortable with every thing you could need. Jim and Elie both very welcoming. We would highly recommend a meal in the bistro, delicious home cooking and breakfast just as good.

Being great film fans we were fascinated by the history of the Empire. Now we know it's more famous for Jim and Elie's friendly service and the lovely food. The sea bream was probably the best I have had. There is so much to do in the area as well that we barely scratched the surface, so we aim to return as soon as possible. J&D

Room Tip: The walls are a tad thin so volume control on TVs might be worth thinking about, but apart from that...

Stayed for two nights on a golfing trip. Excellent value and really friendly welcome. Great breakfast just a pity the bistro wasn't open on Monday or Tuesdays. We know where to stay on our next trip to this area. Thanks to Jim and Elie for running such a great place.

Once again a great stop over in the Empire Travel Lodge with our hosts, Jim and Elie. We have been regulars at the Empire for several years and it seems to just get better. The ease of booking, the friendly welcome and excellent breafasts are superb. It is also the little touches that we like. Simple things such as a the free (and quick) wifi code displayed in the room, the corkscrew and wine glasses, the bistro in the evening (with BYO wine policy). Lochgilphead is not the most lively place of an evening and what there is refused us an evening meal when we had our two children with us. Not a problem with the bistro at the Empire.
Overall it is a great place to stop and I would recomend it to anyone no matter your budget.

Regularly stay here when in the area for work. Friendly welcome from Jim and Elie. Rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. Food is excellent & all homecooked. Best cooked breakfast I've had. Evening meals equally as good, highly recommend the steak pie & sticky toffee pudding.

I stayed for one night on a business trip along with 2 colleagues. We were made very welcome and shown to 3 large, comfortable, well equipped and very clean rooms. Good value for the price.

This hotel was built as a cinema for the 1938 Empire exhibition in Glasgow and then moved to Lochgilphead where it operated as a cinema for many years. My father would have seen it in 1938 - I wonder what he would have thought of its current incarnation!

Room Tip: I was in the family room which had 2 single beds and a bed settee
