“Great value for money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2008

Just spent three nights, dinner, bed and breakfast (26th - 29th Sept 2008). This is an excellent hotel with very friendly staff who do everything to make your stay even better. The views are gorgeous and the hotel has some fantastic features i.e. furnishings, original paintings and great detail has been given in the dining area. The food is fantastic also, especially if you have a big appetite!!!

Raymond, Marina and their team made us feel very welcome and ensured that we enjoyed our stay. I would certianly recommend this hotel to anyone and will be back.

My wife and I stayed at the hotel for a weekend break on a
special offer deal £160 DBB.
The room was comfortable and clean, we were on the second floor and had a lovely view of the loch.
The food was absolutely tremendous and the portions were
perfect in our opinion. Nothing was a problem for the staff
who were curteous, friendly and very professional in carrying out thier duties and this includes the manager who mucked in during busy periods.
All in all for what we paid for the weekend this was excellent value, the hotel is in a stunning location with the view of
Loch Gilp AND Loch Fyne at the front and the Crinan Canal at the back.
We would whole heartedly recommend this hotel to all, if you
ask nicely you'll even get a wee dance of Marina!

I stayed here as part of a wedding that had been booked 6 months in advance. Despite this amount of notice the best man and an usher plus obviously their partners couldn't get their rooms as they had been given away and no proof of booking was taken. The owner was rude, blamed this on customers and refused to apologise.

Rooms are a bit shabby and very basic, rooms on the top floor don't have showers but are charged at the same rate as those that do.

Breakfast was great, but due to a run in with the owner/manager a tad uncomfortable.

This should be an ok place to stay due to the views but the prices and the manager mean I wouldn't recommend this to anybody.

We stayed at The Grey Gull in for 1 night as we wanted to take a boat trip out to see the whirlpool at Corryvreckan. We took advantage of a special offer advertised on their website which was £110 per couple for dinner, bed and breakfast. The offer should only be available at weekends but as they were quiet that night we were able to get the offer. The hotel was easy to find by following the directions of their internet page. We received a warm welcome at the inn. The room we were given (2nd floor) overlooked the loch. The room we stayed in was a little tired although it looked to be new carpets and bed. The furniture was a flashback from the 80's :-) The room was clean and so was the bathroom which again was tired. We ate at the hotel as part of the promotion and the waiting staff there were really friendly. The portion sizes would feed an army!! Dining was really good value for money and I would eat there rather than going anywhere else. Breakfast was also great. There was a selection of cerials, fruit and pastries plus a cooked breakfast. Overall, the staff were fantastic and I would stay at the inn again. Prices of hotels etc in this area are normally quite expensive so taking this into account I feel we got what we paid for and I would probably stay there again if I were in the area.

The location of this Inn is fantastic. It has wonderful uninterrupted views over the loch. The staff were friendly and made us feel welcome from the moment of our arrival to the time of our departure. We particularly enjoyed having late afternoon drinks "al fresco" in the little garden overlooking the loch. The rooms were basic but adequate for our needs.

Stayed here in March and enjoyed the lovely location. The new owner has made great changes and the the whole effect is very welcoming. The food was really good and the price was excellent. This is a brilliant place to stay in Argyll and will suit all visitors to the area.

I stayed at this location whilst traveling on business. I was pleasantly welcomed by the friendly staff and owner.
Enjoying good food and wine surrounded by the fabulous view helped to make this a perfect overnight stop.
