“Best so far!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

My friends and I visited this hotel last week - 11th/15th March and were very pleased with everything there. The hotel is one of the best Shearings we have visited so far. Our rooms had been updated and actually had a flat screen TV. The hotel is very well kept throughout. Food is excellent and staff friendly and helpful. We would particularly bring to notice, Ian, Restaurant Manager who runs a very efficient team and we were never kept waiting to be served on any occasion. The only drawback was the entertainment. Due to the layout of the hotel there is no main ballroom / entertainment room and only a small lounge which is used by the entertainers. Consequently a lot of guests have to sit in the bar or entrance hall room. From what we heard the entertainment is not of the standard of other Shearings we have visited.
The highlight of our trip - snow on the mountains and hills with the sun shining on it - absolutely magical - not something that can be booked or arranged - just very lucky to have visited that week.

I have just stayed at the Invercauld Arms for 5 days. The staff were very welcoming and generally exceedingly pleasant and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The room we were given had a wonderful view over the hill-sides. It was spacious, clean and well-equipped. The meals were varied and offered excellent value for money (we were even offered bread and butter pudding on the Wednesday evening!)
The entertainment was very good. I was especially pleased to be able to enjoy Stephen Quigg on the Wednesday evening. The entertainment lounge was fairly small which meant, unfortunately, that not everyone who would like to have enjoyed the entertainment was able to do so.
Overall it was a very enjoyable stay, made even more pleasant by the friendly and helpful staff.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view, and pay extra for it if this is necessary.

Me and my wife stayed here for 4 nights, quite relaxing place to stay.
Not much happening in Braemar as a place.
The hotel was very clean, staff pleasant.
Our room was very nice, my wife noticed a few cobwebs floating about !!
The bathroom needs a few pound spending on it !!
Once again it's an old hotel that's very nice but needs a few pound spending to bring it up
to modern standards, but for the price u pay you can't really complain too much !!

4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2013

I booked a last minute two night stay in the Invercauld Arms and at £44 for two nights B&B I wasn't sure what to expect. What I got was a pleasant surprise. The public areas of the hotel were well maintained and warm with an open fire in the reception area. Staff were welcoming friendly and efficient.

I limited myself to bar meals so can't comment on dinner, but the bar meals I had were served quickly and good value for money. Breakfast included a good choice of cereals and fruit. The cooked breakfast - which was prepared to order - included the option of kippers. I had the full breakfast which I found adequate but some might have felt a little short changed to receive just one rasher of bacon, one small sausage, half a tomato, a small spoonful of beans and a fried egg on a slice of fried bread.

My room was clean and warm and the en suite was a generos size. The decor was perhaps a little dated and there was a small area of peeling wallpaper but I've stayed in places which charge much more and were in much worse condition.

All in all, a happy experience.

We have recently returned from a Shearings 4 day break at Braemar. The holiday was great value for money , the weather we had was a bonus. There was snow on the mountains and sun everwhere that we went. The twin bedded room (35) was spacious and had 2 separate easy chairs which is not always the case. The TV was a modern flatscreen one .The room though somewhat dated was spotlessly clean as was the large bathroom. The food was varied and was always nice and hot, portion sizes were adequate. All hotel staff were very professional and friendly. The package included 4 drinks each a day and they were adequate and there was a wide range available. The information given to us by "big" Bob and "little" Bob was exceptional. it is clear that they love the area and have taken a lot of time and trouble to gain this knowledge that was passed on to us. They were by far the best informed drivers that we have come across in many years of coach travelling. We would certainly stay at this hotel again if we planned to visit the area again. It would be a good place to stay as a stop over for a few days if planning to travel further in Scotland.

£25 for a single room inclusive of bed and breakfast. Sounds too cheap to be any good but can't be further from the truth. Pleasant Assistant Manager on duty who was very welcoming indeed. Nicely decorated entrance and communal areas on ground floor creates good impression. Bar food was fine. Room perfectly comfortable and appointed. All in all a very positive experience.
Good base for Glenshee ski area which was why we were there for the weekend.
Only negative - would be good to have hotel wide wifi since no 3G reception

What a lovely review, I will pass your comments onto Tony (Assistant Manager). We look forward to welcoming you back in the not so distant future; it is a great base for ski-ing in Glenshee which is 9 miles from the hotel.
