There's not much to say about this place. It's pretty old, but our room was enormous, with a large tub in the bathroom. The floor was kind of uneven/creaky under the carpet, but that is almost expected given its age. It's a serviceable accommodation, but if I were to go back to Harris, I would probably look outside of Tarbert for my accommodation (it is a pretty sleepy town, so you won't be missing much in the way of things to do).
The door leading to the stairs needs to have its hinge put on the other side - it was awkward to get in/out of, especially with luggage. The downstairs portion of the hotel seemed like it had a nice sitting area and bar and was a pretty lively scene a few of the times we passed through.
The restaurant in the hotel represents itself as a nice place. I am maybe a little bit of a snob when it comes to food, but my girlfriend corroborated my assessment that the food was not very good. Bland flavors, dry when it shouldn't be, and relatively poor service. Unfortunately, there aren't many other options for dinner in Tarbert at night.
You're not going to regret staying here or anything, but I think it's worth looking elsewhere on Harris for your accommodation in the hopes that you will find something nicer.
