5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2014

This is a place not to be missed, beautiful location with great service, fantastic food and everything you could want from Scottish countryside on the doorstep. To be honest I was a bit dubious when I learned the hotel had new owners from England and that the chef was also English as to how they would provide a good Scottish atmosphere and serve good local Scottish food but this was to prove unfounded and our whole trip became an experience that we will always remember and most likely do again. On our first night we had our meal on arriving after a five hour drive. There was a warm welcome and sitting in front of the roaring coal fire eating what was a five star meal was well needed. We had planned to eat out on at least one night of our three night stay but the food just got better and better and we could not take ourselves anywhere else as we wanted to try everything on the menu, my wife loved the real ales being a bit of an real ale fanatic having done many tours and loved how the ales are brewed within walking distance of the hotel. Billy and Annie were great and made our stay really easy even picking up some toothpaste for us when they went shopping as we had forgot to pack some. If you stay at this hotel you will not be disappointed, we were there on the last night before the hotel was due to close for refurbishment and this can only add to what was a brilliant find.

My husband & I got this through groupon so didn't really know what to expect. Firstly the drive from glasgow to Skye was one of the most enjoyable drives wev ever done! The scenery is just amazing... It's actually breathtaking !!! We did a lot of pit stops at lay bys for photos as did everyone else. It's made us want to see more of scotland. When we arrived at Uig hotel we wer greeted by the owner very warm & friendly man. The room was clean fresh & most importantly warm!! Well stocked up on your tea & coffee too. Great info in the room too about sightseeing areas.
Well on to the food... The chef is amazing! I would have stole him if I could have lol.., iv never tasted food like it! At first I thought abit on the pricey side! But let me tell you it was worth every penny we ate there both evenings I didn't want anywhere else lol. Breakfast staff was great the girl looked after us really nice friendly girl. Such a warm friendly hotel. Would like to thank yous for a lovely 2night stay... Will Defo recommend this hotel.... Stayed on 25/01/2014 Mr&Mrs Farrow...

Although we didn't stay at the Uig Hotel we had a fantastic bar meal here. Our food was very well presented and was delicious, so much so that there was not a crumb left on our plates, on talking to the owner Billy he told us that they just bought the hotel recently, well if our meal is anything to go by they are going to be a roaring success and we would like to wish them all the very best for the future.

This was our first trip to Skye and it definitely won't be our last. With most things closed on the island we found ourselves only having the Hotel for entertainment and food and we were definitely not disappointed. The Uig Hotel is a lovely wee hotel. The staff made us feel very welcome. The food is absolutely beautiful and will be a great crowd pleaser as the new owner finds his way over the next year or so.
Thanks to Billy and Katie Ann for making us feel so welcome.

Billy and Anne, the new owners are friendly and really strive to make your stay memorable. We ate in the bar on our arrival (the food was great, we had haggis, neeps and tatties spring rolls, freshly caught venison and the most delicious pear and apple crumble) and then stayed for a few drinks. Local ales and whiskys were on offer (the bar is well stocked with most drinks) and tasters were offered, so we could try something different. The room was adequate, had an amazing view and was well appointed and clean. The decor is a little dated, but new owners have plans to update. We had a good night's sleep and were up early for breakfast and to make the most of our stay. Again, the food at breakfast was second to none - we had the full Scottish breakfast, which filled us up for the rest of the day. The chef at the hotel is friendly and is a real talent. Unfortunately, the weather during our stay wasn't too great (but that's to be expected in Scotland in November). However, we were given a map at the hotel, with a few recommendations to suit the weather conditions. Billy and Anne are very knowledgeable about the surrounding area. The Fairy Glen is right behind the hotel and after visiting there, we travelled across the island to see Kilt Rock etc - hotel is ideally situated for exploring Northern Skye and it's a fairly short drive to the rest of the island too. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be going back!

In September 2013, my friend and I toured Scotland, including a couple days on Skye. We searched for a hotel that: had good food, a pub with cask ale, easy access to hiking in the Trotternish Peninsula and the other sites of Skye. The Uig Hotel fit the bill perfectly. The breakfasts and dinners were outstanding (North Atlantic scallops on black pudding! Never would have thought of it, and it is a heavenly combo. Also, the haggis is top notch). On top of those requirements, the new owners were friendly, accommodating, professional, and sincerely interested and helpful in making our trip successful. In talking with them, they have plans to continually improve the hotel. Yes, the rooms and bathrooms are in need of an update, but they are comfortable enough and the room is not where we plan on spending our time when Skye has so much to offer.

I would happily stay again and recommend to a friend. Also, if you are staying elsewhere on Skye and need to get a bite to eat when in Northern Skye, I would also recommend stopping in for a bite and a pint.

Room Tip: Recommend staying in the main hotel. Also, I am a dumb American and thought that a Double Room mean...
