“Good hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

This hotel was lovely, the staff was very helpful. The room is a bit old fashioned but charming and it contains all you need. Breakfast is ok, nothing special but good. I have not tried the restaurant for dinner, so cannot give my opinion on that, I did like the whisky on arrival and I had a few more drinks at the hotel bar.

lovely hotel in fab location, only 14rooms.
good standards as you would expect when part of a larger group.
rooms not big but clean and comfortable with the added attraction is that the downstairs rooms, have a door out to the lawn leading down to the loch.
food is good, especially the breakfast that has everything including porridge, salmon, haddock as well as the normal things.
also has a room with a full size snooker table (free).
drink as you would expect a bit dear at £3.50 a pint.
staff lovely and you get greeted with a dram of malt whiskey.
skye is probably the nicest place in britain and this is the place to stay

Room Tip: ground floor (most of them are)

Stayed for two nights with a friend over from Australia. She wanted to go to an older hotel with lots of charm and character and an open fire. Skeabost didn't disappoint wooden floors large drawing room comfy sofas and warm fire. Staff were great and made it feel like a home away from home. We ate in the bar one night. Food fresh good portions and tasty. Breakfast was a good selection fresh cooked. We stayed in room 11 4 poster bed 180 view to the north over the loch. Bathroom had roll top bath and big separate shower. The hotel is not all whistle and bells, immaculately kept. It has a couple of frayed edges but will defiantly be back in the spring to enjoy the hospitality again. Many thanks to all the staff!

We went for a weekend stay, when we arrived with our two dogs we were welcomed in a very professional manner - before our dogs then said hello and made themselves at home. Our room was beautiful (room 11) with an amazing bathroom (the bath was even big enough for my husband at 6ft 4in which dosen't happen very often) and was very clean and comfortable. The staff were exceptionally helpful when catering for our needs setting up a table for us to have breakfast in the bar so we could have our dogs with us. Toasty fires around the hotel perfect for the cold weather. Beautiful location too - views from our room were amazing. Great location for getting about just 5 miles from Portree. Would absolutely stay again - hopefully sooner rather than later. Thank you for your hospitality.

This hotel is in a bit of a remote location on Skye but not far from a larger town. The building is old and grand and feels a bit like you are stepping back in time upon your arrival. We were welcomed with a friendly approach and shown to our room. After settling in, we headed down to the bar. We ordered some whisky and the woman at the bar asked how we liked the complimentary whisky upon check in. We informed her we weren't offered any so she quickly went off to grab each of us a dram. We ordered two appetizers, and they were fine.
Our room was very sizeable with a huge bathroom and large four poster bed. In a nice surprise, the flat screen tv had a dvd player built in and they had movies available downstairs (though you will not find the latest blockbuster, just to warn you) In the morning, we could see a beautiful view out of our windows. The first morning for breakfast, we were in quite a rush to get to the Talisker Distillery for our tour. They were kind enough to rush my order for Eggs Benedict while my partner decided to go with the pastry and breakfast buffet. Unfortunately, there were not much for him to pick at... only a few jam filled Danish pastries rather than the croissants that were mentioned on the menu. We had dinner here the second night. My salmon was decent (if not a tad too buttery) and my partner's chicken was nice (he says 7 out of 10).
The price and value of our stay was good and the staff were mostly friendly and helpful. The food was fine, nothing really to write home about but we didn't have that level of expectation so no real issues with that. Overall, it was a nice two night stay but don't expect pure luxury for the price you are paying. I think this place could be absolutely amazing with a bit of a refurbishment (particularly the downstairs public toilets).

Recently spent three nights here. It is a lovely country house with some very nice features. We had a very spacious room with a fantastic bathroom - double basins, roll-top bath with hand shower plus a separate shower. Ate in hotel all three nights, twice in restaurant and once in bar. All meals were very nice but the menu did not change and I felt there was the absence of more local produce and perhaps a daily special.

I commend green tourism but get a bit frustrated when guests are asked to re-use towels (which I am happy to do) but they are changed anyway. Staff all very friendly and helpful

Great location and beautiful hotel. Room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Reception staff very nice and helpful. Unfortunately some staff could improve their communication skills by actually listening to customers orders. Dinner-we ordered x2 whiskey's and coke, was told there was only Pepsi, which we said was fine. Drinks came back with whiskey no Pepsi. Then when we asked for the mixer as the waitress had forgot- she brought back x2 cans of Coke! Fortunately our meal we had for dinner was very nice. Breakfast- my husband ordered full Scottish breakfast and I ordered everything but meat options as I'm vegetarian- my food comes out with bacon on plate! This is after the waiter actually took our order down on his pad. Food went back and I had to wait for it to be served again. Staff seemed rushed in morning for breakfast even though the dining room was not even half full of guests. Also be aware (although no fault of hotel at all) that there is no mobile phone reception however Wifi is readily accessible. Overall a pleasant stay despite some minor issues and we would recommend this accommodation.
