Stayed for one night, but wish we could have stayed longer! Fantastic B&B, lovely clean room, great lounge with log-fire, and a wonderful breakfast. Easy to find, and is in a beautiful location. Will definitely return, and would highly recommend this B&B to anyone who wants to stay in this area.

What a ray of sunshine Roskhill is. Lovely welcome, really clean room. Breakfast was great no fried food in sight. We recommend the pancakes and fruit. Set back from the road which was lovely, so peaceful. We ate in the School House, very good meal, we only just got a table by turning up at opening time.
The Stern Inn is in a wonderful setting for a pint on a warm evening, overlooking the sea at the end of a road. Fab.
Took a boat from Portree and manged to see a Sea Eagle.

We recommend this B & B most highly. We enjoyed and hope you will to.

My fiance and I stayed in this B&B for 2 nights last weekend (end July 2007). Our plan was to escape from the "joys" of wedding planning and, never having been to Skye before, we decided that a weekend away from it all would be just what the doctor ordered. I found Roskill House on the Visit Scotland web site and booked it a month and a half before our trip. Several times over the weekend, my fiance and I spoke of how good a choice it had been.
The building looks like a refurbished, old white crofters cottage and it boasts beautiful views. There are 5 rooms and they are spotless and very comfortably furnished with generous hospitality trays. The only thing missing from our room was a TV, but to be honest, who comes to somewhere are beautiful as Skye to watch TV?! We certainly didn't, and anyway there is a charming Guests Lounge downstairs with Sky TV, Internet and more.
Gavin and Julie were very good hosts. Gavin does most of the welcoming whilst Julie prepares the most fabulous breakfasts! We had the cold raspberry porridge, the pancakes and the poached eggs and all were outstanding. A real change from the usual fry ups and beautifully prepared.
The B&B is ideally situated, close to many visitor attractions like Dunvegan Castle and Neist Point, Talisker Distillery and, of course the 3 Chimneys Restaurant. We took a morning boat trip out to see the seal colony just off Dunvegan Castle pier and it was great - we got drenched but it was well worth it.
We also ate at the Old School Restaurant. It was very busy but we managed to get a late table on our first night and booked for the second night. The food was absolutely beautiful. It was not too highly priced, given the island envionrment and the quality of what was served.
If you are looking for a B&B on Skye, look no further. This one is FULL of charm and you won't regret choosing to stay there.

This part of Skye is beautiful and the Roskhill is a great place to stay. Great breakfasts with something a bit different from the usual fry up!

“Lovely place to stay- great breakfasts”

Roskhill House

Jun 28, 2007

We stayed at Roskhill House for 4 nights in June. Roskhill House was easy to find and just outside Dunvegan. The room was comfortable, with a sitting area, and a nice bathroom. THe breakfasts were great- especially the pancakes and gave us plenty of energy for walking. There was also internet access via a lap top and a TV with sky downstairs.

The owners were very friendly and seemed to genuinely want us to have the best time possible whilst in Skye.

Would definitely recommend it!

In terms of places to eat/not eat nearby:

Loch Bay seafood restaurant in Stein - great, simply cooked seafood
Stein Inn-- fine for drinks- don't eat there!!
Old Schoolhouse, Dunvegan- we had a good dinner of lobster, mussels and vension here!
