“Excellent stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2014

We spent 5 nights here at the Cuillin Hills Hotel. It was our base for exploring this gorgeous Isle of Skye. The hotel is situated just 1 km from downtown Portree, so if you have a car there is plenty of parking, and it is nice and quiet with a beautiful view of Portree bay, but yet close enough to walk to town.
The hotel staff is super efficient and friendly.
The room was very comfortable and the bathroom was clean and functional. A bit difficult to maneuver the hot water temperature, but no big deal.
The breakfast was awesome, a full buffet of cereal, fruit, yogurt, etc. plus an a la carte menu for cooked breakfast.
We had dinner twice and both times was wonderful. Very well prepared and imaginative meals.
We would return here and highly recommend this hotel

We didn't stay at the Cuillin Hills Hotel but we did eat there one evening. The hotel is very well located on the bay that forms around Portree. The view from the hotel is of the harbour side and an impressive back drop of mountains that predominate in the area. It was a good choice to eat, a good selection to chose from and very tasty.

We stayed at Cullin Hills for two nights. the grounds of the hotel are very nice indeed.

The hotel is located a little out of town and therefore if you need to drive into town, and as there is not a lot of parking in Portree in peak holiday times, parking can be an issue.

The hotel is quite nice, but quite a few stairs stairs to navigate to the room, there is no lift. The room was quite spacious as was the bathroom, but as the room was out the back, the view was of a car park, not what was expected for 200 plus pounds a night. The shower had only a light trickle of hot water. The room was very quiet with an excellent sleep.

The breakfast was very good, good selection, very good service. Internet was very good through out the hotel.

Stayed for 1 night B&B in August and felt let down for the price paid. Room good and clean but breakfast average, summed up when another guest asked for an omelette and was told could not do as was not on menu! Not good for a £270 B&B.

We stayed for two nights, I must say with 270 British Pounds, the room was certainly out of date, not worth the price tag. The show didn't have hot water the first night, but since there was a separate shower for the bathtub, we were able to use that. So after the shower, I went to the front desk and told them about the issue, and she promised to have it fixed the next day. She did keep her promise, they did fix the shower, which we were appreciate their prompt service. House keeping also brought a adaptor for us without us asking, so I think despite their over-priced room, their hotel service was great.

Room Tip: If you want a lake view room, ask for second floor.

My wife and I stayed at Cuillin Hills Hotel in July 2014 for two nights. Great location with a beautiful view of beach front Portree -- just a short walk into town. The town offers shopping and many dining choices.
We stayed in a very large room -- separate sitting area and spacious bath -- at the end of a hallway. Very quiet.
Breakfast is served in dining room with large windows overlooking the bay. Cold buffet served with choices from a hot menu.
We enjoyed dinner at the hotel one night -- again beautiful view, but the food just me my expectations, nothing exceptional.
On the front yard are lawn chairs and tables to enjoy a drink overlooking the water.
I would definitely stay there next time in Isle of Skye.

We stayed for two nights as part of an Absolute Escapes train holiday and could not fault it. The room (Room 20) was large, well appointed, comfortable with a fabulous view of Portree. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the food was excellent - both breakfast and dinner. Would not hesitate to stay there again.

Room Tip: Rooms with view of the Portree harbour
