“Still Great After 25 Years”

My husband and I stayed at the Rosedale 25 years ago and were excited about finally getting back there this year. It is under new management, but the new owners are just as good as the last owners. Everyone we met was very friendly and the hotel is extremely well managed. We didn't meet the owners, which is a bit of a drawback in a place as large as the Rosedale (by this I mean it has more than a few rooms). However, everyone, and I mean everyone, was extremely helpful and friendly. We had a room with a view of the bay, which is just gorgeous. I could sit and stare at the harbour for hours. I would recommend splurging a bit for a view. The room we had was not huge, but it was fine. The decor is very nice - warm and traditional. Breakfasts are excellent and the breakfast room has views. This is a quirky building with lots of odd hall ways and angles; it's just full of character and beautifully decorated. We just love this place and if we get back to Skye, this is where we will stay.

We had a lovely two night stay here. We were met with a friendly greeting at Reception (The sherry helped!!) and shown to a beautiful room with a wonderful view over the harbour. It is a great location for walking and also for touring the island. Although in the centre of everything, noise was never a problem.

All the public areas are very well maintained, including the bar and restaurant. we had two lovely meals, but get in early if you want the full menu selection to still be available. Breakfast was excellent.

Overall, a wonderful stay.

I have stayed in this hotel on several occasions and have enjoyed every visit. The location is superb, being on the harbour side looking out over Portree bay, and the food is wonderful. You can be assured of a comfortable and relaxing stay here, and I would recommend it to anyone visiting Portree for those reasons alone.

A very warm welcome awaits here. In todays world of big companies whose sole purpose is to make money, its lovely to stay in a family run hotel. Lovely rooms, very clean and fully equipped with everything you need. The food is outstanding, absolutely fantastic. Beautiful location overlooking the harbour. Well worth a visit, highly recommended.

“Good Location”

Spent one night at the Rosedale during the first week of opening for the season 2008.
Lady at reception was friendly and helpful and we were shown to our room through a maze of corridors.
Heating had been put on in our room prior to our arrival and the room was clean and tidy with great views over the harbour.
Better seating in the room would be a bonus especially if you are stuck inside on a wet day, and there are plenty of them on Skye.

We did not have dinner as we did not find anything on the menu appealing. I would describe the breakfast as adequate.
Parking is very limited at the front of the hotel which is a dead end road. Be prepared to reverse up to the main road when leaving.

Overall good value for money and I would certainly stay again in the future, though it would not be my first choice if staying for more than a couple of nights.
