Wendy and Alistair are possibly the most gracious and generous hosts on the planet! Hospitality truly runs in their veins. When we arrived (carless) they immediately made us feel at home, as if we were visiting old friends who happened to have a fabulous two-room guest suite. They even brought us welcome drinks, and then Alistair drove us into town for the wonderful meal he had reserved for us (at our request) at Sea Breezes, Portree's top-rated restaurant. After dinner, the short walk back to Otterburn was lovely—despite some rain—and we quickly tumbled into the deeply comfortable bed and slept soundly due to excellent blackout curtains. The next morning we enjoyed the freshest berries and yogurt, followed by Alistair's exemplary eggs with Stornoway black and white pudding (husband) and smoked salmon (me). After a full day of touring on breathtaking Skye we were back again at Otterburn to relax in the spacious guest lounge with its beautiful harbor view. Then another drive into town, also courtesy of our hosts, brought us to our second reservation at Harbor View, again made by the kind and charming Alistair, where I ate my weight in delicious fresh langoustines. The walk back to the B&B, this time rain-free, allowed us to admire the harbor, gardens, and elegant private homes. Our second night passed all too quickly, and after another five-star home-cooked breakfast it was time for us to reluctantly leave Otterburn, a most extraordinary refuge and worthy of every accolade. Oh, and it may be a cliché but one really could eat off the floor here, it is that spotlessly clean.
