We found the proprietors, Gillian and Craig, to be very friendly and welcoming. They were happy to impart local knowledge, which was exactly what we needed for our four day stay - not everything can be found in a guidebook.

The hotel is comfortable and has two spacious lounges to relax in. The view of Loch Alch is superb and just the thing to get your day off to a good start. I have to say the same could be said for the breakfasts that were served, they were excellent.

We enjoyed our stay so much that we have recommended the White Heather Hotel to our family and friends.

Gillian and Craig made me most welcome and made me a wonderful breakfast before I set out to take my masterpieces. Unfortunately the weather wasn't great for photographs, but it is a beautiful island to visit.
I would certainly reccommend this hotel if visiting Skye at any time.

This is a very clean and comfortable hotel. Gillian goes out of her way to be helpful. The views of the harbor from our room and from the the breakfast area were memorable. The breakfast is well-prepared in a large, well-equipped kitchen.

I am a platinum member with Marriott and I have stayed at many hotels in the USA and Europe. I have to say that overall, my stay at this property has to be somewhere at the top of all my stays.

Location:
Conveniently located on the island just across the Skye Bridge. This helps a lot on the day of arrival and departure since you don't have to drive across the island.

Rooms:
Nice and clean, just enough space for 2 person. We stayed at the twin room with view to the bay. Water pressure in the shower was very good.

Breakfast:
Traditional English breakfast, very tasty and filling. You just have to pick what you want the day before which was a little unusual for me, but then again at least no food is wasted. After the first night I was actually looking forward to breakfast time.
If I remember, there were also some cereals, milk, different kind of juices.

The hosts (Gillian and Craig) were extremely helpful!
They helped us find the best way to spend the little time we had on the island. They even called the Glenelg to Kylerhea ferry operators to make sure that they were open. If you leave the island, I would definitely recommend taking this route instead of taking the Skye Bridge or maybe just take a day trip by taking the ferry and come back via the bridge. The scenery is beautiful, the roads are a little scary, but you should not really drive fast as you could miss out on some things here and there. Just let the locals pass!
Also if you like to fish ask Gillian who could arrange for a guide to take you some cool places to fish.

Overall, I found that the White Heather Hotel is an incredible value for the money. However, what makes this a special property is the kindness and the responsiveness of the hosts (Gillian and Craig).
I will definitely come on my next visit to Scotland.
