Upon arrival we were told that the chef was sick and the hotel would not be providing any evening meals. We therefore had to get back in the car and try to find a restaurant. Not so easy in this town so best to go back over the bridge to Kyle of Localsh. During the evening we saw four/five members of staff around the hotel and found it hard to believe that none of them could russle up something in the kitchen.
The following morning we went for breakfast at 9.30 to be told that they stopped serving breakfast at 9am. This was an unusual time to stop breakfast especially during holiday season but, had we been informed of this when we arrived then, we would have got up in time.
Upon arrival at this hotel was a little sceptical due to the tired exterior but kept an open mind. On entering the hotel was pleasantly surprised at the decor but not at the the stale, dog smell. The proprietors two dogs were allowed to freely roam around any/every room of the hotel. Room was nice and comfortable although the website states TV but fails to mention no TV is in the room and that it is located in the lounge for shared use amongst all guests.
During our stay we saw 4/5 members of staff but I am not quite sure what they actually did. There was never anyone at reception and although they had an extensive bar/lounge no one served in it and you had to help yourself. Whenever anyone needed anything they spent ten minutes running round the hotel trying to find a staff member.
This wasted the first night of our first visit to Skye but we continued our travels and stayed in some truly wonderful hotels on the island.
