We only went to Dunvegan to see the Castle, and this seemed like quite a nice place to stay.
Unfortunately entry to the Castle is £6 each, which they were still going to charge us even half an hour before closing. We're really fans of just looking at castles from the outside, but the exterior isn't all that great.
Now the hotel. Well, it isn't really a hotel, its a guest house. You feel like you are living in the owner's house. Fine if you like that sort of thing, but for me when I have to chat to the owner every time you go past reception to go in or out, it is a bit wierd.
The food wasn't that great, and again it was a very strange atmosphere, like being in a family member's dining room and having them wait on you.
Then the decor. Euuughh. I just can't face going into too much detail but teddy bears and china pigs abound. Hearing the family just living near you meant that the only thing we did in the bedroom was get drunk and watch DVDs on a portable player - I always thought it was over-the-top on my husband's part to have one, but am now grateful for it.
Saying that, it looked better than the other two hotels in Dunvegan, so if you are really serious about seing the castle (ie you're related to the McLeods) The Tables is probably the place to stay, or drive in from somewhere else.
