Stayed at the Duntulm Castle Hotel for 1 week beginning 26th April 2008.Weather overall was very good which enabled me to witness the beautiful sunsets from the front of the hotel. The view over the ruins of Duntulm Castle & the bay are spectacular at the best of times but more so at sunset.
My hosts,Kevin and Dianne were very attentive and the food produced by the Chef(Peter) was both imaginitive, well presented and delicious.
Throughout the hotel there is a very welcoming and comfortable atmosphere and I would recommend this hotel without reservation. Will definately return

Situated on the North coast of Skye the hotel (and the journey to it) offer the most spectacular views of Skye itself and the neighbouring islands of Harris and Lewis.

On arrival we were immediately greeted by the owner Kevin who, after helping us take our luggage to our room, gave us a tour of the hotel and a brief commentary on the immediate area and the main highlights and things to see. It's worth noting that this is a very traditional and 'homely' hotel and is a different experience (and in my opinion better) than what you would expect from a national hotel chain.

After a brief walk down to the beach (2 mins away) we witnessed the beautiful sight of the sun setting behind the ruin of the Duntulm castle as we looked out to the isles of Harris and Lewis - you really have to see it to understand - but I can't imagine a hotel with better views.

When we asked Kevin what time food was served until the response we got was "just let me know when you want to eat" - so we did! We were treated to wonderful home-cooked food and alhough we both have healthy appetites neither of us managed to finish the generous portions we were presented with.

Throughout our stay we were made to feel as though we were being welcomed into this man's home and that nothing was ever too much trouble.

All in all an excellent hotel with a personal touch that is surely in the best location in Scotland.

Thanks Kevin!

I have just come back from a short stay in this hotel. The setting is wonderful, but the hotel itself is very run down. It seems to be functioning on the back of an old website for Skyewalks. This was organised for us, but was very informal. Although the owner, Kev is very friendly it is obvious he does not have experience in this field.
The room which we had was shabby, cold, and damp. The TV did not work. The beds were clean, but the bathroom was small, lacked ventilation and very cold. We were offered the use of TVs in any of the other rooms but none worked. The shower curtain was ripped. The carpets were dirty.
The food was not very fresh, particularly the bread and soup. Breakfast was the best meal served.
The two local guides Kevin used for the walks were very friendly, knowledgeable and were very happy to take us out. However they seemed rather unhappy with the arrangements.
This is not very good value for money and was a great disappointment.
This place has such potential if some money is spent to modernise and upgrade the facilities.

After 7 hours on a train to Skye, three hours of driving and two hours of climbing, I was so hopeful that when I rolled into Duntulm Castle Hotel, I would find a semi-clean guest house with decent food.

What I found was a cozy, clean and warm house with AMAZINGLY fresh and tasty food, and Guiness on tap. What more can one ask for.

Dinner was fresh mussels and the freshest Lamb Chops I might have ever had. My full SCottish breakfast was pretty damned good, as well!!

Really, if you are doing Skye in two days, it's the perfect place to stay inbetween. Do the east side of Skye (Portree, Trotternish, Quirang), make your way to Duntulm, and then go down the west side (Dunvern, Cuillins, Elgol).

Duntulm Castle is absolutely fabulous. We are bikers (oh yes dreadful hairy arse bikers) no in fact we are all in our 40s and respectable business people, but lets face it thats the usual thought. We arrived at the hotel through a dreadful blizzard, soaking wet and we were welcomed warmly by Kevin and his wife who put all our wet clothes to dry by the open fire. We were treated to a wonderful meal of the freshest fish we had ever tasted and we had a wonderful evening to follow. The rooms were so comfortable and the views spectacular. Kevin was full of interesting stories to keep us amused and after a wonderful breakfast (which Kevin tried to ply us with more of) we very sadly parted. I would dearly love to return and I really hope I do some day.
