We have just returned from our (too) short break on Skye.I have never written a review for any hotel or B&B,but Tigh an Dochais was so wonderful that I'm compelled to write this.Amazing views, food and hospitality made this a trip we will always remember. Our host,Neil gave friendly advice on places to go and recommended restaurants. The room was very comfortable, with superb view from the deck outside.

“Superb”

Tigh an Dochais

Stayed here for 5 nights after reading the Tripadvisor reviews and how right they are. A superb B&B. The building is fairly new and is stylish and stunning, yet very homely. The owners are rightly proud of their home and this comes across. The rooms have very comfortable beds and have TV, coffee/tea, etc,..Breakfast is something else! Home made muffins, cereals, fresh fruit salad, smoked salmon, cheese & buiscuits, juices and smoothies....just a warm up for the full Scottish or fish. I had full Scottish every day which was superb. Not greasy at all and the components were all top notch local produce. My partner had haddock one day which she thoroughly enjoyed. If you have room left there is beautiful home made bread & jams. Brilliant and we didn't need lunch at all!
Broadford is an ideal base for Skye and the mainland. We ate at 3 places in our stay:
Claymores - decent bar food but a touch pricey for what it is.
Creelers - decent food but not fancy. The Gumbo is very tasty.
Harbour Restaurant - easily the best but you need to book. Not many tables and one sitting so lots of people getting turned away. Really super food and excellent value. 3 courses for c£16 and the produce is very fresh and well done.
Back to the B&B - Neil is very helpful and knowledgable without being in your face. Nothing was any trouble. A truly excellent place to stay.

At last, we have found the perfect place to stay. A fabulous contemporary house with stunning sea views and amazing attention to detail. Our bedroom was immaculate and very comfortable, with a full height window opening out onto a deck, just a stone’s throw from the beach. There are even binoculars in the room, so you can take a closer look at the all the wildlife. Breakfast was a real treat, with lots of fabulous local produce (sausages, kippers, smoked haddock), as well as great homemade bread and muffins. Neil makes every effort to make you feel at home and is a mine of information about the island, helping you to plan your day.

This is the sort of place you will want to return to time and time again, and we certainly intend to!

We have just spent two perfect nights at Tigh An Dochais and wished we could have stayed longer. Everything about this B&B is simply perfect & the hospitality shown to us was 2nd to none. We arrived and after being Welcomed and then shown our room (Superking sized bed!) we were made to feel comfortable in the lounge with a pot of tea and homemade shortbread (delicious). The breakfasts are absolutely delicious, and there is so much to chose from. Homemade bread, muffins, biscuits, fruit cocktail and yoghurt, fresh salmon, fresh fruit, cereals. Then a choice of smoked haddock or kippers, wildboar sausage, bacon, free range eggs, etc. The b&b is decorated and furnished with brilliant style and with luxury in mind - the artwork/pictures on the walls are absolutely stunning. The bed must be one of the most comfortable we have ever slept in and the bedding is that nice that I actually made a note of the make!! The bathrooms are equipped with the very best fixtures and fittings. There is a "guests" fridge which you can use to chill wine etc. Plenty of books are available to read or look through, including some excellent cookery books. The very best thing about this place though (as if everyting else wasn't enough!) is the spectacular views - we enjoyed watching the sun setting each evening whilst sat at our own table and chairs outside on the decking. We are hoping to return later in the year.
