“Great B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2013

Arrived here with my partner on what was a glorious sunny day ( in October as well) and John showed us to our room- well I must say the view was amazing and the room very spacious and clean. The breakfasts were great and one morning I selected pancakes ( a must have if your going). Great B&B which I'd highly recommend.

I was looking for a place to stay on the Isle of Skye as part of a tour around Scotland and found Scalpay View. The location looked fantastic so I made an online enquiry for a room. John, the owner, gave me a call to confirm the booking (at a very reasonable low season rate of £60 B&B for a double room).

The property was easy to find and the view certainly lived up to expectations. Nestled on the edge of the water over-looking the Isle of Scalpay, the outlook was breathtaking. John greeted us with a cheery smile and showed us our en-suite room which was warm and very clean, more than adequate for our needs. We pre-ordered the full traditional Scottish breakfast and settled in for the night.

Breakfast was taken in the sitting room, allowing us to drink in more of the beautiful scenery. Juices, cereals, yoghurts as well as the full breakfast filled us up in readiness for the next couple of hundred miles of our trip.

All in all, this was an excellent stay, providing fantastic value for money.

We arrived to a rainbow over the water and a warm and friendly greeting from John. The view of the water from our large bedroom window was astonishingly beautiful. We even saw otters and a seal. The room was large, fresh and extremely comfortable. I only wish we could have stayed longer.

In a lovely location not far from Broadford, from which we managed to see otters and a variety of bird life. Friendly approachable owner with lots of good advice, nice comfortable bed and well-served filling breakfast (although didn't include porridge). Quiet well-behaved dog was hardly seen but resident cat was into everything! Reasonably priced for Skye.

The driveway is VERY steep - approach with care.

We stayed here on our first night on Skye and what a place! A location right next to the loch and has fantastic views. The room was clean and comfortable and a fantastic bed. Slept like a log!! Breakfast was fabulous and John was a superb host and extremely knowledgeable about the island. We went out for an evening meal and ate at the Claymore which was excellent!
If you are fortunate enough to come to this beautiful Island you could do a lot worse than to stay here!! They work very hard to make you never forget the experience! John, you both should be very proud of what you do!

We stayed at Scalpay View for two nights in early June, when thankfully the weather in Skye was beautiful! It is a really nice, clean, comfortable B&B with probably the softest bed I have ever slept on. Living in London, I was also very struck by how quiet the surroundings are. John was a really great host - always found out the night before what we would like for breakfast, his recommendations were spot on (Red Skye restaurant is worth a visit) and he was very friendly.

The B&B itself is around 10 minutes outside of the main part of Broadford but is well placed for the rest of the island. We found it easy to to get to Elgol, Glenbrittle Portree and the northern loop. Of course, it has an amazing view as well. I would definitely stay there again.

A friendly well-run simply-furnished B&B with fine views of Scalpay island. Conveniently located off the main road to Portree. The landlord, John, is very amiable, helpful and knowlegeable. Very nice breakfast offered in a well-lit dining room with a pleasant view of the island across the narrow loch.

Room Tip: There're only two rooms. Ensuite facility was slightly cramped but the view from the window is b...
