“Best B&B ever!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2013

My wife and I did stay at the "Skye Picture House" for 1 night only (unfortunately), as we had to drive back to Glasgow the next day. Otherwise I would have spend a whole week there. The ensuite room (Room 5) we stayed at was quite big, tidy and decorated with passion for detail. The beds were very big and comfortable. So we did sleep extremely well.

The very best about the "Skye Picture House" is the community room in the basement with comfy leather couches, huge windows to enjoy the amazing view and a huge wodden balcony to sit outside and enjoy the sunset. From there we did spot a lot of wild life like the otters that live in that area and sometimes even come up to 5m close to the house. See the video on their website. :-)

If you come to Skye you should definately stay here for some nights as everything is easy to reach from here. No matter if you want to go for a hike around "Old man of Storr" or drive down to Elgol for some "Puffin Watch Tour".

The breakfast the next morning was just amazing. The best english Breakfast I had in this 2 weeks that we were visiting Isle of Sky and Outer Hebrides. We will definately come back sometime and stay for longer. That is for sure. :-)

Thank you so much for your review, it is a pity you could not stay any longer. We do get booked up quite early in the season (same for most of Skye) so next time don't forget to book room 1 as this has the same fantastic views as the lounge. At least you had some time on our decking. As you have stated it is easy to explore all the wings of Skye from here. We hope you had a great stay in Scotland and look forward to your return visit.
Best wishes

This is our second visit as we were so impressed the first time. Stuart and Sarah made us extremely welcome, the breakfasts and evening meals were well cooked and delicious. They gave us useful tips for places to visit including restaurants. The room was lovely and had a double aspect looking over the Loch. It was a lovely place to stay and would definitely come back again.

Room Tip: If you want to see the wildlife, sea birds and seals, choose rooms facing the Loch., but these can a...

It was great to see you again and that you had such a great time on Skye, all the walking and the boat trips including the Aqua Explore with all the fantastic wild life you got to see (but we won't say any more as Mr N didn't see a great deal that day). Room 1 is our largest room and is ideal for a long stay, with plenty of space. Hope you had a good journey home and its not too long before you return.

We had the family room, which is bigger than the other rooms. There were a double bed and a single. Both windows overlook the loch, the island opposite and the mountains. You don't want to close the curtains and go to sleep.
The bathroom is spotless and also has a window with a view, be it less good.
Reception by the owners is great and fresh coffee awaits almost straight away. They give you all the information you need or want. The lounge/breakfast room overlooks the same view. Or you can sit outside to enjoy the solitude of nature. We saw the sealions, but not the otters.
Once you sit outside, you do not want to leave again. It is absolutely beautiful and very peaceful.
Breakfast is cereals, fresh fruit, porridge (a must, but ask for a small portion, as that is big enough) and a cooked Scottish breakfast or fish. You cannot leave hungry.
The room was spotless and everything was provided. Lovely smelling soaps!
It felt like home from the moment we arrived.
We went to visit the Talisker distillery and Dunvegan Castle and could leave our luggage there, until we were ready to pick it up for onward travel. Bikers welcome. Parking available on site.

Thank you for review, you did have some remarkable weather and if you look on my website i have put the photo from the loch looking toward the house with the Loch looking so still and calm. Hopefully next time you will be able to say a bit longer and I would love a ride on the back of your Harley. I will get the otters to make an appearance next time. Hope you had a great journey home.

I had the pleasure of staying at Skye Picture House for three nights this past July. The location for exploring Skye is perfect. Stuart and Sarah are amazing! Sarah is a perfect hostess and Stuart was always spot on with indepth advice on how to spend the day. When you combine the host's friendliness with fantastic views and wildlife sightings, you can't go wrong with a stay at SPH!

My family and I stayed a Skye Picture House for one night during July 2013. Sarah and Stuart were very friendly and helpful hosts, so we felt very comfortable right away. The house has an amazing view of Isle of Skye and during our short time (evening and morning) we spotted both common herons and an otter. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious homemade meals. I can easily recommend staying here, if you like a friendly family feel and closeness to nature.

We stayed for one night in June during our visit to Skye. Upon arriving, we were initially blown away by the beauty of the location. The house sits on the banks of a loch where on a clear day you get a great view of some of the nearby mountains. We were promptly shown in by the proprietors who walked us through the common sitting room and then upstairs to our room. We had opted for the family room which gave us plenty of space and a superb view of the surrounding area. The bed was very comfortable and we slept very well.

The proprietors were both very friendly giving us great suggestions for dinner and scenic routes of the island. The breakfast was very good with cold items left out to be taken as desired and hot items cooked to order. We're not big breakfast eaters so only sampled the toast and porridge, but were very satisfied with both.

One of the best features of the property was the balcony facing the loch. It was a little chilly during our visit, so we didn't make too much use of it, but we could definitely imagine how lovely it would be to spend some time out there on a warmer day. Also the sitting room is very inviting and is a nice place to spend some time before heading out to further explore the area.

We really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely recommend this to anyone visiting Skye.
