This hotel has not long been taken over and is a lovely friendly hotel. Jeffrey & Rebecca Gallagher and their young family go all out to make you welcome. We walked in with our 5 year old daughter and were warmly greeted by Rebecca and Geoffrey. They both couldn't have been more helpful and the no nonsense checking in procedure was completed in less than a couple of minutes. Rebecca then showed us the lounge and dining room facilities and then escorted us to our ground floor superior room showing us all we needed to see.
Our room was both immaculately clean, tastefully decorated with a fresh feel and even had a separate room for our daughter to sleep in. The bathroom was modern with both a power shower and a bath and nice finishing touches such as fresh white fluffy towels, complimentary soaps and shampoo's. Much to my daughters delight, Josie Jumps house also had a collection of starfish and shells on the window sill.
Rebecca and Geoffrey had only started offering evening meals a couple of weeks ago and we had booked this whilst checking in. The Prawns were to die for and both the Pork and the Salmon are to be highly recommended. They even custom made our daughter an adult sized Pasta dish with fresh parmesan and a homemade tomato sauce which she totally cleared. Enough said! Kids won't eat it if they don't like it !!
The lounge is very informal with comfy sofa's, plenty of magazines and books and a TV with SKY.
The hotel has all been redecorated (by the new owners) and newly carpeted. It has a really clean fresh feel and our hosts made us feel extremely welcome.
I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Mull and it's location is within 5 minutes walk to the seafront.

Having been informed that the hotel was now under new mangement we were optimistically expecting better accomadation than advertised on trip advisor. However, if this is better then 'Harbour Heights' (as it was previously called) I dread to think what the place was like before the new owners took over! Okay the rooms were clean and there was no smell of mould, but the standard of the rooms was well below what I expected. We were in a superior room which are supposed to be more spacious etc. however we barely had room to move. The storage heater in the room had been left on and it was a very hot day, so we slept with the window wide open which meant it was hanging over the bed. Thank goodness I didn't sit up suddenly in the night.

Breakfast was another example of poor standards, this was the most expensive place we stayed in during our holiday on the islands and yet the breakfast was the worst. A small rasher of bacon, a very cheap sausage, one egg, five little pieces of mushroom and half a tomato, all spread out on a very large plate! It looked ridiculous, a decent breakfast isn't that expensive, surely this doesn't warrant the three star rating from the scottish tourist board. Even the complimentary shortbread in the bedrooms were disgusting. Idon't ask for much but it could be so much better!

As we pulled up outside this hotel, my husband confessed that he hadn't read the best reviews of it on trip advisor!!!! I was nervous, having heard how awful the reviews were, but hey, we have a 2 year old, and it is Josie Jumps house!!!
When we got inside I was pleasantly surprised, we were shown to a clean pleasant room by a very friendly young lady. There was a brand new travel cot waiting for my daughter at the end of the bed. We soon discovered that it was under new management!!! Thank goodness. The smell of fresh paint was in the air, the skip full of unpleasant linen was in the carpark.
The public areas of the hotel were clean and fresh, breakfast was simple and pleasant, all in all it was a nice hotel.
My daughter was in seventh heaven, and tried to sing the balaory them tune everytime we came back to the hotel. If you have a junior balamory fan in your family, you couldn't find a better place to stay.
