“what a great place!”

Glengorm Castle

Because I read good reviews on Trip Advisor we decided to stay here for one night in May while touring Mull.
The road to get there over Mull is very windy and beautiful (bring throw up bags for the children!) but arriving at Glengorm your mouth will drop. It is so beautiful. We had great weather so that also made a big change.
The castle is lived in by a family with young children. It gives the place the feel that you are arriving at home. The dog is waiting for you at the front steps. The bedrooms and bathrooms are big and lovely decorated. With antiques, books, nice materials.
Again the view from our room out over the fields and the sea was incredible beautiful.
Our children liked it because they could play outside and on the trampoline.
It is a B&B so you have to go out for dinner. We went to Tobermory and had some good Mull lobster in a restaurant run by an Argentinean chef.
After dinner back in the castle we sat in the whiskey room where you can try all the whiskeys (for free...). We only had one for fun and then had a lovely sleep in the four poster bed. There were American honeymooners there and I can see that this would be a good place for your honeymoon.

we stayed at the steadings at Glengorm for a week as part of our honeymoon. The appartment is absoloutely gorgeous, real quality. There was so much space and everything in it was of a really high standard which is so refreshing for self catering. Only drawback was the heating, it did seem to get quite cold and never really warmed up,although to be fair extra electric heaters were in the property but we did not use them. It just made it all the more romantic sitting in front of a nice fire instead.
The food in the coffee shop was lovely and we'd highly recommend it. It's so refreshing to go somewhere and just enjoy good basic homecooked food using good quality ingredients. We did also but some of the meat from the shop to cook ourselves and it was delicious.
We can't wait for an opportunity to go back.

We stayed at Glengorm one night during our honeymoon. Unfortunately for us, we were there in December when the sun doesn't come up until around 9am and goes down around 3:30pm. We never got to see the view our quaint room had to offer besides the amazing moonlight shimmering off the sea and outlining the shore, but I'm sure in the daylight it was even more magical! We drove around the island before dark and saw Duart castle in all of its rugged glory. The Isle is amazing, and looks quite different depending on what part you're on. Some of it looks like a set for Lord of the Rings, and then some of it is almost rain forest like, its really beautiful and worth going out of the way to see. The family was really cute and nice. The food was delicious, and we were happy to spend our evening in the library trying different types of scotch with an English couple that were staying there as well. There is nothing more cozy than a fire in the fireplace of an old library with a rain storm outside, a glass of whisky and good conversation. You can't beat that kind of ambiance!

    • Disliked — No shower, just a nice big bath tub.
    • Tips/Secrets: — You can see a lot of the Isle if you have a car, so bring one over on the ferry.

Glengorm Castle is absolutely phenominal. The accomodations and natural setting will blow you away. The food is outstanding and Marjorie and Tom couldn't be nicer and more accomodating. If you are looking for a place to unwind, I highly reccomend Glengorm. We will be back for sure!
