Mike, Jane and the girls are genuinely wonderful traditional Scottish hosts. We arrived to a large clean en suite room and this provided an excellent base to explore Mull. They have 3 adorable labradors that are very well behaved in very good shape.
We woke on the first morning to an amazing sight of red deer in the back garden from the bedroom window. One was a large stag with brilliant antlers. We spent saturday on Mull with the local wildlife guide David Woodhouse from Mull Wildlife expeditions (Britains longest serving wildlife guide). This was an experience not to be missed and even in March we saw Sea Eagles, Golden Eagles, Hen Harriers, Great Northern Divers, Otters, Deer and many more. We saw a pair of Golden eagles displaying and 'interacting' with a sea eagle. The backdrop of dramatic cliffs and forrests rounded of a great expedition.
Arriving back to the B&B we were greated with a dram of whisky and a blazing hot fire to dry ourselves off. They do not serve dinners however they were happy to recommend a selection of good restaurants for an evening meal. The bed was firm and comfortable and everything was clean and well presented.
Possibly the highlight of the stay were the incredible breakfasts - a selection of cereals, prunes, strawberries and gratefruit with fresh coffee. This was just the starter. The main part of breakfast was excellent local produce including smoked salmon and eggs or a large fry up of everything you could want. Finally you had the option of Mike's special dish of rice. This dish was influenced by his prolonged stay in the far east on business with a famous hotel chain and should not be missed if you like spicy food.
All in all - an excellent place to stay at a fair rate. We will be back when we are next on Mull.
