I had to spend a night giving a talk to a community group in Craignure. I had left my car in Oban thinking there might be a taxi waiting at the boat, or a shuttle for the hotel. It must be a mile from the pier. Nothing of the kind, so I had to lug my overnight case and myself on foot. It was hot and damp and I am approaching 70, corpulent and desk-bound. This is hardly the hotel's fault, of course, but it's something for others to bear in mind if they are contemplating a stay there.
I had to stand for quite a while waiting at reception until they had my room ready, in spite of arriving after the stated time. The single room was OK, although small. I did overhear another guest complaining that his family room had not been cleaned during the whole week he had been there and that he had had to ask for sheets to be changed. However, in my case, the room seemed clean enough, although a bit cramped. The bed was very comfortable. Because of my size I found the toilet space awkward. The absence of a bedside table was annoying as I enjoy a read and need a glass of water for during the night, so I had to get up to put my book on the table and then again several times for my habitual sip of water. The door locks seemed to cause not only myself but other guests some problems... difficulty in locking and unlocking. The handle mechanisms seemed old and worn beyond the point of smooth operation.
The main drawback for me was the lack of Wi-Fi in my room. And the hotspot connection in the main reception area was simply too slow to be of any practical use to me. That meant I lost precious work time, which was a real problem. Ironically, my talk to the community group was about the provision of broadband to rural and remote communities. So I experienced the problem first hand. After fully half an hour I had only managed to download 2 of my emails... so forget it! No chance if you have holiday snaps that you want to upload to Flickr or email to the family. I had a lovely view out to sea and across northwards to Loch Linnhe.
The food was fine, nothing spectacular, but tasty and sufficient in quantity. The staff were all very pleasant and attentive. I wish I had had time to enjoy a swim in the pool... the only pool on Mull, I understand. I did hear others comment that they really enjoyed their stay because of that facility in particular.
All in all, I have no complaints. Were I to have to go back I wouldn't hesitate to book in there again. But I would take my car across in spite of the extra expense. There are buses but the service is not frequent and taxis, apparently, won't come from Tobermory just to take you to the hotel. They really should lay on a shuttle bus for their guests.
Make sure you ask for a room with a view to sea... otherwise you'll be looking at nothing but a...

The door lock system we realise can be complicated for people who have not used this before and we are now actively putting signs in the rooms which we hope will assist customers.
The reason for your visits to the Island was as you say to give a talk to the Community Group about wi fi and broadband,. Sadly we can only provide this in the public areas, as there is insufficient signal to expand to the guest bedrooms, and yes it can be in intermittent signal which we suffer with ourselves, the joys of Island life I suppose. I am sorry for this inconvenience but at this point there is nothing we can do. We look forward to seeing you on your next visit, and please call reception when you are on the ferry so that we can collect you. Best Wishes Neal Goldsmith
