The setting of this hotel is simply magical. Calgary Bay is a fantastic beach with sparkling white sand, gently shelving for a swim. Excellent for children for sandcastle building, kite flying, cricket playing and generally splashing about.
You access the beach via a preserved woodland glen, complete with works of sculpture (Art in Nature) which our children loved exploring and finding "wishing chairs".
The farmhouse accommodation itself, which was converted by the owners, is also complemented by art and lovely carved wooden furniture. The rooms are simple but very comfortable and clean, and there are family rooms with adjoining bunk rooms. There is also a guest sitting room. There is also self-catering accomodation here.
There is a restaurant on site - the Dovecote, which has a deserved reputation, with meals above average price for Mull. There is also a cafe which is open during the day - but we found the woman who runs it very unfriendly.
The only other negative was the price of children's meals which are available from 5.30 for those who want to feed the little ones seperately - we paid £7.50 for a bowl of spiral pasta with grated cheese, a glass of juice and a bowl of icecream! Homemade burgers, fish goujons etc also at the same set price.
