“cosy living room lunch”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2013

This is the only place to stop to eat in many many miles and so as such, it was a welcome addition to a rainy day on Lewis. We passed by at first because it is just someones house and did not look open. However, it is listed on a local map of attractions so we decided to call in on our way out of Uig. We were warmly welcomed by a young lady and she explained the menu on the board. It only serves sandwhiches or filled jacket potatoes really, and soup. Our soup was delicious, as were the sandwhiches which had local fayre. Cakes are available as self service. Tea is served in tea cups and sauces and has a quaint homely feel. It is very isolated and could perhaps make more of a captive audience by widening a menu, but that is merely opinion. Good service, interesting experience.

“Leave well alone!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2013 via mobile

My first scottish meal out in a restaurant and it really put me off. Restaurant was small, but the young man serving was very welcoming. We got shown the menu written on a blackboard which didnt leave much choice. We decided on the stornoway black pudding with home cured bacon. To say service was quick was an understatement, after hearing two bings of a microwave our food was served. I was speachless, two pieces a dry black pudding, two pieces of bacon, a watery tastless jacket potatoe and a little side salad with coleslaw just to make it look nice. Cant wait to tell the folks back home in Wales i got served black pudding with a salad and all for only £8.95, what a rip off.......home cooking indeed. The cakes on sideboard didnt have that wow factor either. Also they could do with cleaning the cobwebs and dust off the lights overhead. However, the pot if tea was nice!!

“This is not a restaraunt...but a baked potao shop”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2013 via mobile

After driving around the isle myself and my friend felt quite hungry. So we stopped for some food. that was our first mistake. i have to say it is a very clean nice place after sitting down i noticed the specials bored but the waiter appeared plopping the board at our table informing us that this was the entire menu. well was a bit cobsmacked. A choice of three sandwich filling or one main course bacon and black pudding. i was so hungry it had to be the bacon and black pudding sorted two bacon and black pudding please. wel the waiter had barely gone when we heared the buzz of the microwave....... buzzzzzz on and on and on and on..... finaly it ended i have worked in the hotel industry for years and thought to there benifit they were mearly defrosting what ever i was about to eat. and soon hear the crackle and smell the bacon and black pudding......unfortunately not. with in seconds our food was plopped on the table.. Baked Potato Black Pudding and Bacon and salad. A microwave meal served to me for £9....... i wouldnt be so harsh but the baked potato was watery and vial microwave bacon i would eat such a thing in the house so why serve it in a restaraunt and serve it with garnish...please never again. there are some very good fine restaraunt in Stornoway and very good prices freshly cooked for you. so why did i eat here..well lesson learned.......never ever again. stay away and drive to Stornoway people. as for the reviews that are on here all ready as i said earlier i have worked in the hotel industry for years and can see through reviews..... if you ask me why would anyone go to so much trouble naming the owner write the prices and give such a glossed review if they didnt write it them selves.... rant over stay away. No locals eat here

“A Great Lunch Stop”

A great lunch stop on our travels on Lewis; with some interesting and unusual options; all freshly-made and very tasty.

“Looked closed but was open”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2013

Quirky interior, excellent light meal and even open on a bank holiday when everything else was closed.
