For a hotel charging over £100 per night for a room, this was a disgrace. Hotel itself is in the middle of nowhere, not a problem in itself unless you are trying to escape! The hotel was generally run down and shabby, the seats in the public areas were dirty and the restaurant not a pleasant environment at all.
Our guide book had said the food was surprisingly good, they must have eaten elsewhere! It was lukewarm and bland and served with the most unappetizing set of boiled vegetables I have ever seen. The chips had barely touched the fat they were so pale! You woudln't mind if you'd paid £5 for a meal but at over £18 for a disgrace (described as a fillet - no way!) it was not funny.
To be fair our room was OK, it looked like it might have recently been refurbished, but there was no hot water and the shower reduced to a trickle when other rooms were presumably having a wash at the same time!
Staff were helpful and friendly so no complaints about them.
Only good thing about this hotel was the superb links golf course. Think the hotel banks on groups of males interested in playing golf and having a drink and being too hungry to care much about the quality of the food!
