“mctaggart bistro cafe”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013

Bistro Restaurant. Port Ellen. Islay. Scotland PA42 7BJ
This family run restaurant is one of the most talked about restaurants on the island of Islay, Scotland, thanks to their good service, best prices and nutritious cooked-to-order good quality meals.
At lunchtime the most popular meals are nourishing soup followed by caught-that- morning fresh fish. Scallops and other sea- food are also on offer.
During early afternoon lovely home baking with tea or coffee is a must.
Delicious meals between 5pm and 7 pm include their very popular, freshly caught, haddock fish suppers. At any time during opening hours, 12pm-7pm, you can enjoy a snack or a delicious homemade hamburger.
The Bistro, open 7 days a week, seats 24 and is well worth a visit.

“Lunchtime favourite”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2013

Port Ellen has very little available for a quick lunch time bite apart from the two hotels, so the Cyber Cafe is a God send for someone on business and only half an hour to spare. I have always found the food to be of an excellent standard and in the winter the home made soups, served by the friendly and chatty staff, are to die for. Thanks to this place, my days of a two day old Co-op sandwich are long gone.

“Tasty fish and chips”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2013

Popped in here after visiting Ardbeg. It doesn't look much from the outside but the service can't be faulted and they have a great choice of fresh local food. We both had the fish and chips which was great value and came with tea/coffee and bread. Saw someone have prawns and they were massive!! It's great value and is just off the main road in Port Ellen.

“Delicious scallops”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2013

The big attraction was the WiFi internet access. The scallops were also delicious as was the fish and chips. And home baking. I did think they would have some sort of books/toys for children which they did not, so perhaps could look at adding that in future. Also perhaps a few more childrens' options on the menu?

Good food and service. Fresh food and simple cooking, nice idea behind the cafe as well and reasonable pricing.
