“Lovely family break”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2013

We stayed for four nights in one of the lodges via an 'itison' deal which included a voucher for money off dinner in the hotel. Everything was great; the lodges were comfortable, warm and included everything required for our stay. The staff could not have been more helpful both before our visit (request for two travel cots for twin babies was no problem, including lovely clean fresh cot linen) and during our stay. The food in the dungeon bar was wonderful, including meals for two young children and we were all made to feel very welcome (not always the case when dining out with a young family!). The view from our lodge was spectacular and the children loved playing outside in a very safe environment. Would highly recommend for a short stay as plenty to do and see nearby and lovely walking around the estate.

We have just come back from a weekend stay at the lodges. The position of the lodges are great and the view was amazing. The lodges themselves were ok. Compact but clean. Had almost everything that we needed. Remember and pack a hair dryer! Part of the deal we were on included money towards evening meal in dungeon restaurant. This was extremely good value for money and the food was excellent.
Overall I would not hesitate to recommend.

My sister-in-law gave us a present of a two night stay at Culcreuch Castle and what a wonderful present it turned out to be! Despite the snowy weather, the welcome was warm and check-in quick and efficient. Our room, Seton of Gargunnock, was warm and comfortable with some nice touches. The view across to the hills was stunning.
Throughout our short stay, the staff were exceptionally friendly and capable.
Food from the menu in the bar was good and reasonably priced but the highspot was dinner on our second night. Perfect game pate, beautifully cooked salmon and duck, and desserts to die for.
The hotel is ideally placed for visits to the surrounding area - towns such as Callendar, Aberfoyle and Stirling.
All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable break!!!

We were married here 8 years ago and decided to go back for a birthday treat. It was still of excellent standard. The cosy fires are very welcoming on a cold March day. The staff are all exceptionally friendly. The grounds are lovely with really old beautiful trees. The rooms were very traditional but warm and the food was excellent. The castle has had quite a bit of work done on it but thankfully it has not lost its old traditional feel, but has been modernised very sympathetically. A wonderful experience.

Room Tip: All bedrooms are good, but if you have mobility problems you might find the stairs rather difficult.

This castle is extremely welcoming and traditional. The grounds are beautiful with stunning views. The staff are very friendly and the level of service was excellent. With only about 10 rooms, you really get the personal touch. Rooms are large and very full of character with antique style furniture, 4 poster bed etc. the food at dinner was outstanding and the intimate dining room was splendid with a roaring open fire and traditional style furnishings. Beautiful setting. Thoroughly enjoyed the stay & can't wait to return.

I stayed in Culcreuch's lodges with my family for my husband's birthday and had a great time. The lodges aren't modern and the decor is a wee bit tired but it all added to the ambience of staying in a cabin in the countryside. The view from the cabins is breathtaking of the campsie hills, in fact we all woke up early to see the sunrise on the first morning. The beds were quite firm and took a bit of getting used to though. We got a great deal with Itison which also had given us vouchers to spend on food at the castle. So we ate there on the first night and the food was good. During the day we went to Go Ape at Aberfoyle which is not for the feint-hearted, but great if you like an adventure,
