My stay, along with eighteen other colleagues for three days this month (April 2005) at the Royal Hotel far exceeded my expectations after doubting the outcome upon reading the previous review.
The service was more on par with four star and the cleanliness in all aspects was above average.
The friendliness and professionalism of the staff were what one would expect from a five star hotel.
The restaurant was superbly laid out and the cuisine was, once again one of the best.
Breakfast, lunch and evening meal were well above average as to what one would expect from a 3* (?) establishment and the service could not be faulted.
To sum up: The Royal Hotel would satisfy even the most discerning guest and I would not hesitate to recommend it in my professional status as a travel advisor.
Thank you to all the staff from, Dr Reah Cadwell. Inverness

“Un hygenic facilities”

This is what we found at The Royal Hotel .below are the emails that we have sent to the Hotel which 3 weeks later we are still waiting for a reply.Would you pay £100 a night for this?

A week ago I wrote to your Hotel,to date no acknowledgement to that email has been received. We have since found our original email that said that we were booked into the Royal Hotel with all its facilities NOT the Royal Lodge which had none.NO Lifts ,No refurbishment , No Bar no Restaurant.Had we wanted to walk 340 yards in Torrential rain to eat or have a drink we would have booked into a cheap B& B not a 3* Hotel. As you can see from the photo's the shower was in a very unhygenic state, nor did we expect wallpaper peeling off the ceiling.Nor did we expect to be told when complaining about the room that this was known about no apologies or a reduction in the £100 that we were charged for this.We have stayed in hotels round the world and we have never had such unhygenic room to sleep in.

On the 23rd of June 2004 we had a room booked through the Best Western web site. Having checked your web site we did not expect the standard of room that was provided. We were allocated room 112 in the 'Royal Lodge" which was not mentioned on the web site. The room was not refurbished and was in a poor state of repair with paper coming away from the ceiling. The worst aspect however was the condition and cleanliness of the shower cubicle. The tile grout that was still in place was black with grime and did not look as though it had been cleaned for months. As we were only staying for 1 night we did not ask for an alternative room but did comment on the condition to the lady whom checked us out. Her attitude was not what I would call customer sensitive. She did not offer an apology but just said that she knew about the state of the room and that it was due for renovation. we paid and left with a very poor impression of your establishment and the quality of Best Western standards. I have photographs of the offending areas if you need proof of my complaint but I just hope that my comments improve conditions for future guests and lets hope that those who pay for a 3 star rated hotel get 3 star standards of accommodation and service.
The facilities advertised on your web site and the best western site were not given to us.
