“Back to Bliss”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2012

I am writing this review in the comfort of the beautiful Clyde room just after Breakfast, which was fantastic. The views of the valley are stunning and we are at peace with the World. Dinner last night was a delight after a really long day and all of the staff were as wonderful as usual. I rarely sleep properly when we are away, which is a lot, but never seem to have a problem here. One complaint though, oh why is this idilic haven Three Hundred miles away from where we live? Roll on April, when we will be back. 21/11/2012.

Room Tip: A room with a view at the back of the Hotel is the best bet.

My wife & I had our reception in Cornhill House, back in 2005. This was before the purpose built wedding extension...mind you, we only had a small number of guests and so we were in the Clyde Room. Mae, I think that's how you spell it, along with John her husband, were absolutely fantastic. They couldn't do enough to help us, suggesting items for the meal, the layout for the room etc. On that day, everyone in the hotel was exceptional, the waiting staff, Mae & John, the barman...everyone.

We have since been there a number of times, for family dinners, Sunday lunch and my wife & I tend to go there on our anniversaary each year. I cannot find anything to fault the place on. The location is stunning, the building is stunning, the views are stunning. I think we're seeinig a pattern here! Everything about the place is, in my opinion, stunning.

It's now getting difficult to get a room, especially at the weekend. As it is now such a popular venue for weddings, all the rooms tend to be booked out. I don't know how far in advance they take bookings, but I would suggest that if you want to stay there at the weekend you give them a call and see about an advance booking.

Well done Cornhill House and keep up the good work.

Room Tip: Every room is good! Take your pick.

booked this after a websearch and tripadvisor reviews. A sunning looking Victorian Castle type of property. Excellent welcome and check-in. Barman went the extra mile also and made us feel really welcome and as if we were special and frequent guests [we are neither !]We had paid a little bit extra for an upgraded superior room - well worth it - got the front room with the turret - fabulous.
Very good evening meal and staggingly good fresh cooked breakfast - no warmed up stale buffets here thank goodness [our pet hate]. Owner in charge keep the place on its toes
Very good value on their packaged all in deal as well

Room Tip: worth the modestly price upgrades

Attended a family wedding here this weekend. From start to finish the service was amazing. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff especially for the fussy diners. Their wishes were catered to immediately. The hotel itself is beautiful and the grounds are perfect for a stroll and socialising with other guests. The wedding co-ordinator did a great job and the days events flowed perfectly. The table settings were beautiful and the food and drinks were delicious, especially the canapes on arrival. This is the perfect venue for a wedding where you can be assured that everything will go like clockwork.
