Verena and Graham were brilliant hosts, friendly, welcoming and very helpful especially as we had my elderly mother and a dog with us. We stayed 4 nights in lovely rooms, with excellent en suites, and were very comfortable, we enjoyed fantastic breakfasts each day, and 3 times ate very well from the evening dinner menus. Great access, great atmosphere, comfortable, exceptionally clean and fresh. Would recommend it to anyone!

Room Tip: Tell Verena and Graham what you need and they will try their hardest to help. Lovely people.

Travelling home from a holiday in Scotland my partner and I stopped over for a second visit having enjoyed the first (29th Sept 2010) so much. Our repeat visit was again exceptional with an excellent dinner, breakfast and room. We could not fault Holmlands in any way. The welcome was perfect ( not over or under effusive or intrusive) and we were on both occassions made to feel comfortable and at home. After a week of travelling in Scotland between B&B's and Hotels this was by far the best stop over we had. I have no reservation in recommending Holmlands to any fellow travellers. Mike and Pam Woollard (Hitchin).

We stayed at Holmlands on our way to The Royal Highland Show. We found the welcome very warm and friendly. Verena was very obliging and offered to cook us a meal whatever time of night we arrived. Graham and Verena excelled in every way to make our stay enjoyable. They do their job with such passion. Dinner bed and breakfast of a very high standard and all food sourced locally. Would not hesitate in recommending this for a stopover.

It was evident from the tea and cookies and fire in the fireplace that greeted us to the fresh eggs from the family's hens and fruit and vegetables from the garden. Varena is a wonderful cook, and they both were so friendly and helpful. The setting is quiet and restful but not far from the highway. The furnishings are simple and the rooms a little cold, but we really enjoyed our stay.
