Lovely food although rather over presented for my personal preference. Great service and a nice atmosphere.

“Fantastic as always”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2014

We have been about 5 times and never had anything bad. This time my black pudding with red pepper relish was delicious just enough. Lasagne very good lovely cheese topping and my chocolate torte was the perfect way to finish. My bfs steak was perfect

“Lovely Inn With Great Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2014

Visited in a party of nine whilst staying close by at the cottages at Cloncaird Castle and we all really enjoyed our meals. The pub is done out to a really high standard and we found the staff
very friendly and helpful. There is an extensive menu and all the food was lovely and fresh and the prices were reasonable. We had to return home on the Sunday but the rest of our party who were staying on went back for an evening meal and again thoroughly enjoyed it. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.

“Brilliant village pub/ restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2014 via mobile

We had not been here for nearly a year so visited between Christmas and New Year. Last time it was very good but it has improved even on top of the previous standard. The normal menu is excellent for choice and the specials were as good a choice as you would find on many full menus at larger establishments. Food quality and presentation was excellent and, as ever, the service was friendly and attentive. Prices are ridiculous for such fine food with four of us eating two courses with a couple of drinks each for under £100. Only very minor quibble is the small tables but the layout is such that that is unavoidable. Overall, this is as close to 'fine dining' as you are likely to find in a small village pub.

“Amazing Hogmany Meal with a few wee easily rectified niggles!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2014 via mobile

We were a party of 7 dining at the Kirkmichael Arms on Hogmanay as we have been many times before and knew we would leave with full satisfied bellies!
The restaurant was full and despite this it had an enjoyable laid back atmosphere. All 7 members of our party thoroughly enjoyed all 3 courses of our meal, the chefs in this wee place really are a credit, they never fail to impress on presentation and flavour, just really fantastic food!
Our only gripe was that we felt rushed to order a dessert and after eating such rich starters and main courses we all needed a little time to rest.
The service was attentive And friendly however a few in our party including myself noted that one of the three waitresses seemed awfully dismissive and rather sarcastic, her dry drawling tone felt patronising and on some occasions downright rude!
Other than these little niggles we had a most enjoyable night and would recommend these fantastic chefs to all!
Oh and Happy New Year!
