“Small portions”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2013

I had ordered salmon fillet and locket leaves, half an egg and small other traces of vegetables and it arrived with a small portion of chips in a separate bowl which was cold, the main dish was hot and it was nicely presented as a 'work of art'.
But not very filling. The waitress asked if I wanted desert, yes need to fill a hole I enquired on the size she described it with her hands, so I had the impression it was small.
I described the whole meal as "motorists portions", ideal for people who don't do much exercise.
I had to go into a fish & chips shop and brought a portion of chips!

“Just about sums up the town really”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

Now don't get me wrong, I love Girvan... come here regularly to see family and always have a relaxing time. But the town (which used to be a major holiday destination) has just let it self down and this place just about sums the whole town up.

The food is ok.... nothing special.... a bit on the pricey side but ok when you look at the location etc. There is nothing specifically I could complain about.... the staff seemed to totally ignore the fact that you were eating and would simply appear at your table and start doing things around you.... which was a bit off putting.

All in all... ok food.... ok service.... fairly decent price (if not a little on the pricey side).... but all in all ok.

“Best scones ever!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2012

We looked at menu outside before going in thinking it would be expensive being right at the front but were really surprised to find that a coffee and pot of tea £1.50 each which is below what we normally pay. We also got a scone and it was amazing, the staff were very nice and the restaurant was very homely.

“A great local find”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2012

This is the one restaurant we can walk to and it never disappoints. The appearance from the outside is not a true reflection of what you'll be treated to inside. An extensive menu, fabulous, friendly service and a bill that won't break the bank.
