“A great value 2 star hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2014 via mobile

Visited along with my partner on a internet deal and was a little concerned with previous reviews but the anchorage turned out to be a very good hotel. We where given room 3 on the 1st floor a big family room which ok needed a bit of TLC but was clean and comfortable with sea views. The dinner we received on the 1st night was excellent and breakfast was fine. Only thing I would agree with previous reviews that bar prices are a bit more expensive than other nearby bars. Would recommended this hotel to anyone and is just across from the troon - large ferry

We stayed here recently for one night prior to boarding the ferry back to Ireland. Failing to see any B&Bs we opted to stay here for the night. The hotel accommodation is really very basic and not particularly cheap. Rooms are very dated and badly in need of renovation/upgrading and a thorough clean, breakfast is pretty basic and served in a rather dull depressing room. Dinner in the bar was typical bar food but was reasonably priced and plentiful.

Had a very pleasant stay weekend before last at this hotel. Staff we're very pleasant, and welcoming. We had asked if it was possible to get one of the rooms mentioned in advance - and I'm pleased to say they were happy to accommodate Room 4 Talisker - excellent. Great food / plenty of choice - and the same goes for the drinks available. Nice big beer garden out back ... Recommended

This hotel has been badly let down by its owners. It is in a prime location but that is the only positive I can give it. The hotel is very very run down, it has big cracks in the walls with ants coming out, stained carpets and mouldy bathrooms.
The restaurant used to be good but has really gone down hill as well with dated decor, really average food, expensive drink and quite regularly the Ice machine doesn't work so u have room temp drinks. I'm really not kidding when I say it is like filthy faulty towers.

Rooms very tired needing redecorated but clean staff very friendly food very good £5.60 for a glass of wine and £1 for a very small glass of soda not to be repeated. Then food bill came for £30.10 more than what we had ordered.

Booked this hotel through Groupon and had no problem getting the dates we wanted.
Its a bit of a walk from the train station, but it was a lovely day so allowed us to take our time. We found the hotel without difficulty and it looked like the photos we had seen.
For what we needed it for, basically a bed, the hotel was ideal. The decor needs some upgrading and the floor boards need a bit of replacing as they are quite squeaky. Think the hotel should play more on its history and remove some of the more random pictures on the walls.
Breakfast was filling and delicious (toasters take forever) and the food in the bar is well worth the price.
Staff were friendly and efficient.
