The food was delicious but they forgot the chicken in the penne pasta with chicken. This wouldn't have been a problem as they quickly rustled up a bowl of cooked chicken, but the lady who spoke to us (I presume she was the manager) made a point of telling us (and the rest of the diners) that the chef had "diced the chicken finely" but they would "give us more anyway".
Whilst I'm not exactly a Masterchef, I am nearly 44, and I know what chicken looks like, and what it tastes like, no matter how finely it is diced. Had I thought quicker I should have said there was a prize in it for her if she managed to find any in the dish!! Even if some chicken had been minced and added to the dish, it would still be visible and there would be the taste and texture of chicken. There was categorically NO chicken in it, and it was extremely disappointing to be patronised in such a manner, and so publicly.
On a plus side, we had the three course offer at a very reasonable £11.95 each - the food was delicious, but the wine was hugely overpriced. The cheapest bottle was around £16, so it might be advisable for them to have a cheaper option (even something around £10 would be more reasonable, and there are plenty of cheaper wines around).
A total of £63 for dinner for two, proved to be an expensive lesson on where not to dine in future :o(
