“Most disappointing”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 14, 2012

We had a family meal here last night and I have to say I am nothing sort of being totally disappointed. From the moment we arrived it was clear the staff had an attitude problem, failing to take coats from 2 of our group. Unfortunately, the same can be said about the service we received at the dining table, with the (too few) staff simply not interested in taking away empty glasses, plates or asking if anyone would like another drink. I've been to Highgrove for dinner many times in the past, but after last night's meal, I doubt I will be returning.

“Aaaaa...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2012

Aaaaa..mazing evening. Had Sunday dinner (6th May) in this fantastic restaurant. Very professional service and great views over Troon bay from the hill top. the selection was awesome and the quality of the food was great. Had one of the best fillet steaks ever, and price included veg and potatoes. my partner had one of the many fish options and it was also above parr. The staff were friendly and efficient. All in all, a great evening. thank you to all at the Highgrove.

“How disappointing!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2012

We had looked forward to this meal for some time. Initial impressions were good: friendly professional welcome and lovely surroundings. Unfortunately the staff seemed really over stretched. We were unaware of the daily specials until making our dessert selection - the options for starter and main had not been given to us. The wine arrived while the wine drinkers were elsewhere and no one came to offer to taste or pour the wine which we did ourselves. The main courses were delicious but there were too many servers and no one in charge. We were told we had to vacate our table a mere hour after arriving to take coffee elsewhere. We still had most of
Our wine to drink and asked to stay. This was not deemed possible and we were told to move. The table we were taken to had dirty glasses on it. We had not been told there was a time limit when we booked. Our coffee then did not appear and we had to order it again. We had guests and the poor service marred an otherwise pleasant evening with excellent food and was somewhat embarrassing. I would not return for business entertaining.

“Good food and nice location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2012

We have been here twice in recent years both for special family occasions, Easter and Mother's Day. Both times the restaurant has been very busy, all with families with the same idea! The location is great. On the top of a high overlooking the coast, on a warm day you could sit outside.

The food is plentiful and varied. This Costley restaurant specialises in fish. I had roast beef. The portions are large so you would be pushed to eat three courses. I liked the dessert I had, lemon posset, not as a big as some of the sundaes on the menu, which would feed too.

Bustling atmosphere, friendly staff and Costley art on the walls. The only critical feedback from one of our party was roast lamb would be nice for Easter and we would have liked a table a little less in the middle of things. We felt a little like we were a cut through at times. Neither ruined our meal and we would definitely go there again.

Marked only very good as there is another restaurant locally that would be excellent for me and there is a lot of local competition, not least from the other Costley restaurants. I would recommend a visit.
