“Dinner for 12...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2014

Group dinner... 8 pm. Fixed menu. Service was prompt, and food was lovely. no complaints over the food at all.

It did feel as though we were being chased out. No coffee or tea was offered at the end of the meal, and I was rather perturbed by being asked sharply to "pass that glass" four times as the waitress made her way round the table clearing up before we were even standing.

We enjoyed a lunch at the Old Loans Inn last year. The friendly staff remained in our memory and on our return visit to Scotland to see family and friends we decided to stay near Troon, this time at the Old Loans Inn itself. The young staff could not be bettered. Friendly, helpful and eager to please. Thank you Jodie!! ...and the lovely lass who helped me with my luggage on departure. The breakfasts were superb and the family friendly restaurant served up good meals. Our delightful room was clean, spacious and the shower great. A mix of golf lovers and locals as well as a sprinkle of American visitors made for fine company. One little downside on the Saturday evening we would have liked the wall to wall music to be more subdued as it made conversations difficult. This was not the case during the rest of the week. Close to Troon this is an ideal spot for Burns lovers, golf enthusiasts and anyone who enjoys Ayrshire.

My husband and I had an overight stay in this hotel about 1.5 year ago and thought it was excellent, so much so that when I got an email through for the winter deal I jumped at the chance and took my daughter as a treat. We were slightly disappointed, the room was very nice but far too warm as was the rest of the hotel, it was very uncomfortable eating dinner ad breakfast when it was so warm, I also saw some people fanning themselves with menus. The staff at dinner could have been a bit more attentive but the guy serving at breakfast was excellent, sorry didnt get his name. Our evening meal was disappointing, chicken tempura was a bit thin cut with thick batter, and the chicken with honey mustard and creme freche was a bit bland. Also we arrived about 8.45 for dinner, after being told they served to 9.45 and the chef was staring at us in disgust as though he was expecting his shift to be over? Breakfast was excellent and in particular great scrambled eggs.

Booked into this small hotel/inn for one night away. It has been refurbished and the rooms were spacious and beautifully furnished. Lovely bathroom with a jaccusi bath. Nice intimate restaurent with great service and lovely food. Surprise was hearing the northern soul classic " Hit and Run " over the sound system, that just made our Saturday night. Definitely going again when the weather is warmer so that we can sit on the roof garden with a long drink. Highly recommend this Inn.

Lovely midweek lunch in pleasant restaurant, good menu, cater for gluten free, service friendly and attentive, nice atmosphere, fairly busy but service quick, not rushed. Prices as expected for such good quality, use local ayrshire suppliers for meat. Will be back! Can collect loyalty points and do gift cards.

Please don't be put off this hotel by the professional moaners of the world!! This is a lovely hotel with above average size rooms (definitely NOT SMALL), lovely and clean, good bathroom with beautiful toiletries that you are able to purchase. The staff are very friendly and efficient. We had our evening meal there and couldn't fault it, breakfast was also above average, plenty of choice, staff very attentive. Looking forward to going back for lunch in the summer and hopefully sitting out in decking area. Please give it a try and make your own mind up.

Room Tip: Ask for room at back - very quiet
