“Fantastic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2013

We spent a couple of nights here for our anniversary. We had fantastic meal, accomodation and the staff were so nice. We enjoyed it so much we are going back in the "summer." We had the disabled room which was excellent for my husband who has walking difficuties. The room was beautiful.

We stayed here on a groupon deal middle of December for 1 night. 69.00 incl for 2 people dinner bed & breakfast, inc wine. We took our 13 year old son along with us & the staff set up the big spacious room with a very comfortable extra single bed. The room itself was beautiful & cosy & we loved the ipod connector in the bathroom - lovely touch! The staff were very friendly from our welcome, right through dinner & at breakfast. The food in the restaurant for dinner & breakfast was delicious, great choice & no limited menu. We will definately be returning...

Stayed here on Groupon £69 2 course and bottle of wine for two with B&B included. What a deal, rooms are smashing, well set out and spotlessly clean. Staff very attentive and food was fab!! I'll be back, loved it.

We visited the hotel in December for a quiet night with friends. On arrival we were met with very friendly staff. Dumped our bags in the room and had relaxing drinks in front of the fire. Fantastic atmosphere, we stayed so long that we left ourselves very little time to dress for dinner. The restaurant on arrival had a lovely Christmassy atmosphere. The food was excellent, fabulous choice, generous portions and very efficient staff, no complaints what so ever. Our visit back to the restaurant in the morning for breakfast was exceptional. We had three rooms and they were all in tip top condition, looked as if they had all been renovated. Massive super king beds, bathrooms beautiful and absolutely spotless. Thank you so much for our lovely evening.

I stayed at the Old Loans Hotel in January 2013.

On arriving at the hotel, I found the car park had a lot of space for cars so there was no problem parking. At reception I was checked in easily and the receptionist explained all the amenities of the hotel etc.

The room I was given was towards the front of the building on the second floor. The room had a large bathroom, king size bed and a flat screen television on the wall. The room was very clean and all the furnishings were tasteful. The bathroom had a wonderful power shower and lovely Scottish Fine Soaps smellies for use. The only problem was if I opened my window the noise from the road in front of the building was quiet loud so I had to keep the window shut.

I went down to the restaurant for dinner and the menu was extensive and had a lot of choice. I opted for lasagna and it was delicious. Breakfast the next morning was substantial and the chap who was on shift for breakfast was very friendly and made sure I had everything I needed.

All of the staff at the hotel were very helpful. I had a problem with the wifi at one point and the chap I spoke to explained he would reset it straight away- once this was done I had no problem with the connection anymore.

A good hotel close to a lot of golf courses and would be good for business or pleasure.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back of the building away from the road if possible.

Stayed here overnight as Birthday treat on a special offer. Upgraded for £20 and the room did not disappoint. Lovely big bed, settee & 2 chairs, coffee table, really spacious, lovely soft furnishings. Bathroom had jacuzzi bath and shaving/make up magnifying mirror (all hotels should have these!). Lovely relaxing feel about this hotel. Restaurant on site serving really good food & breakfast is made to order and delicious. Hotel is situated on outskirts of Troon and near good road system for Ayrshire and Glasgow & therefore Edinburgh and south/north. Would be happy to recommend it for an overnight/weekend break or for golfers as there are numerous well known courses nearby.
