We did not stay at this hotel but were passing by whilst touring in the area. The weather at the time was miserable after two glorious days of midge free sunshine. The thought of of hot cup of coffee was the reason we stopped here and rushing in out of the rain we ran into the welcoming resturant instead ot the bar. The australian barman welcomed us with a lunch menu and a smile, very welcome on such a miserable day, and when we said that we were really only wanting a cup of coffe that was no problem, but he showed us the lunch menu anyway. After a good long look at the menu we could not resist but ordering, the food was probable more suited to a typical dinner menu, than a light lunch, but looked so good we had to order scallops wrapped in bacon, excellent value at £13.95 each and to wash this down we had a bottle of extremely pleasant wine, a bargain at £10.50. Prior to the seafood arriving the waiter came over to the table and refilled our coffee cups which for me was a nice but unneccessary touch as I had already started on a glass of wine. The lunch that we had there brightened up what would otherwise have been a rather cold and wet afternoon.
Unfortunatley the whole experience was spoiled by the fact that we were charged £3.20 for the coffee refill which I had not requested , or actually drank. I felt disappointed, not at the cost of the coffee, but at being charged for what seemed to be offered as complimentary rather than a requested beverage.
