“Back Again !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2008

We got married here in 2004 and the place has still not lost any of its unique charm or quality.

We have always stayed in room 8 (Deluxe) and can highly recommend it (although you can hear what is going on in the next room). It is large, spacious and very homely. We have also seen at least four other rooms of varying price levels and all appear to be of a very high standard.

Food is fantastic - service is impeccable - it is very private & quiet - the newly renovated bar is well looked after by Chris (good replacement for the excellent Rory) and I really cannot fault the hotel at all. Ok, it is not cheap but here you really do get what you pay for.

The thing that always hits us is the location - we cannot think of anywhere else in the British Isles with such spectacular scenery.

Cannot wait to return again next year.

We recently stayed at the Torridon with our (almost) two year old daughter. The location is spectacular and the hotel offers a level of comfort and luxury equal to the wild and natural beauty of its highland surroundings.

A great deal of thought and effort by the team delivered a high level of guest attention and care. They were very welcoming and attentive to our daughter.

In summary, the Torridon provides a mature and civilised environment which at times feels almost club like.

We stayed a few days on our honeymoon this July and everything was just perfect. The staff were friendly and very helpful for any walks or activities. A professional, but very personal service.
We had the room with the freestanding bath AND a spectacular view of the mountains. Everything had been thought of and with personal touches.
The restaurant was fantastic, and much produce from their very well managed kitchen garden.
Local walks & scenery couldn't get much better, we even has some sun!

  • Liked — restaurant, great linen, happy faces, mountains....
  • Disliked — really can not think of anything!

This is an excellent country house hotel. We stayed for 3 nights. Our room was comfortable, with a fine view and a good bathroom. The room was fully serviced every day (bedsheets not changed, as is standard practice these days).
The welcome was excellent, and the staff helpful at all times.
The hotel offers a number of activities, which we did not use because we had our plans for hill-walking. You need to do something active, because the hotel food is excellent.
Breakfasts are generous (anything you want, basically). Dinner menus change every day, and are well balanced and very well cooked. Sensible portion sizes, so you don't waddle away from the table like an overstuffed bear! Ingredients quality is first class.
Niggles? I thought the decor of the lounge was a bit gloomy. I asked for whole milk at breakfast and was told they had none - I hope they are not joining the food fascists!
The hotel is expensive, but good value for money.

We spent an unforgettable two nights at the Loch Torridon Hotel, and I still picture myself walking through the front door to Susan's warm welcome and tea in one of the sitting rooms. We treated ourselves to these luxurious nights and are both happy that we did. The hotel is exquisitely decorated, has a wonderful staff, offers lovely rooms, and has a beautiful dining room where each meal is a happy event. The staff helped us select moderate walks which we thoroughly enjoyed. The area is a mecca for walkers of all levels, and we came to Scotland to experience the beauty of the Highlands--so we were in the right place. This is an old-fashioned, elegant hotel, one which was the highlight of our Scotland travels. If travelers are wondering whether the experience will be worth the cost, I would say that it certainly is. The Torridon allows one to relax and savor each moment.

spent two wonderfully peaceful days in the torridon area. The hotel is beautiful we had fantastic room (more shortbread please!!), with wonderful views over the loch and the mountains.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. We were a little disappointed in the food ,but nothing to complain about maybe my expectations were too high.We also ate at the Inn which was great so a good alternative.
overall we had a superb time--felt like king and queen of the castle!
