I sailed to the Torridon from Italy in a large mega yacht as Captain. The Owner wished to have a drink in the bar to reminisce about a previous stay he had had many years ago and to share it with his family. He called to ask permission to come in to sit at the bar using the private pier located near by using our tender. He was extremely disapointed to hear that he was not welcome because the bar was only for use by the hotels guests with a room.
On one hand I can understand this to keep the standards and exclusivness of the place but for this particular event I believe the hotel made a serious mistake.
For this reason I leave a review without ever having stayed in the hotel.

Thank you for your review. Was it just your client coming for a drink or the whole super yacht? In order to retain exclusivity and ensure that we look after our hotel residents offering them the best service possible, we do have a rule that does not permit non-residents into the hotel after 6pm unless you have a reservation for the Torridon restaurant and wish to dine. Non-residents are more than welcome any time before 6pm for lunch and afternoon tea or even just for a drink. We find this is a good compromise, allowing people not staying to experience the Torridon, yet offering those people wishing to stay as residents a level of exclusivity for which they come to expect. We also have the Torridon Inn available to everyone from 8am – 11pm.

Kind Regards,

Daniel and Rohaise Rose-Bristow

“Wonderful setting for a Highland wedding!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 5, 2011

We have just returned from a fantastic weekend at The Torridon, celebrating the wedding of our friends. The weekend was perfect from the moment we arrived till we reluctantly left. Our room was luxurious comfortable, with gorgeous mountain views. The food was out of this world and we enjoyed sampling a few whiskys from the extensive selection. We particularly enjoyed the clay pigeon shooting and archery. All of the staff were extremely friendly and made us feel totally at home. We will definitely be back!

Room Tip: Pets allowed in the cottage, next to the Inn. Make sure to ask for a room with a mountain view!

“Dog Lover loves the Torridon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2011

We had a short stay at the Torridon recently with our dog and we were a bit surprised at the 'leave your dog at home' review. The Torridon is all that others have said in regard to its superb location; a first class hotel where attention to detail is everything; attentive and friendly staff; and of course, top class dining.
We have the best behaved dog in the country. Keira is a Kerry Blue who does not cast her hair, is very obedient, is people and child friendly and, most of all, is pretty with it!! However, much as we love our dog we recognise that not everyone feels the same way and there is the real problem that some people are allergic to dogs and cats. We found the cottage ideal accomodation with a separate lounge, large bathroom and big comfortable bed and plenty of room for the dog to wander. The entrance hall has doors at both sides and a good floor covering that meant the dog could be properly cleaned and dried before circulating in the living areas. Admittedly we did not have a loch view but we were happy to sit in the lounge of the hotel before and after dinner and enjoy all the facilities of the main accomodation knowing that Keira was not locked up in a small bedroom. We could exercise the dog in the beautiful grounds at any time and we were rather pleased to have some of the staff make a fuss of her and tell us that they remembered her from a previous visit.
All in all the Torridon lives up to its very high reputation and my advice would be, if you have a dog you will be well looked after in very comfortable accommodation with excellent facilities and superb dining.

Room Tip: The cottage is separate from but immediately adjacent to the main hotel with its own parking space

“Ryan & Jane's Highland Fling!”

Jane and I visited the Torridon Hotel early in 2011 when we were looking for a wedding venue. We stayed for one night and had dinner, and that was enough to convince us that this was the place we wanted to get married. The settling, the staff, the venue, the luxury rooms and the food all helped convince us that the Torridon Hotel fitted the bill. On returning home we enquired about having the wedding in Torridon and managed to secure a weekend in September 2011. We hired the hotel for the weekend and some extra rooms in the inn.
As you can imagine arranging a wedding from a distance can be tricky, however, we were delighted by the assistance Colleen and her staff gave us (ensuring that there was as little hassle and stress as possible).
From the moment we arrived Colleen, Robert and their staff (especially Tom in the Whisky Bar) were brilliant and treated family, friends and ourselves like VIPs. They were flexible to all our requirements (Singstar karaoke, child minder, Chinese lanterns and all) and really helped make the weekend a success.
The outdoor activities were also varied and a great success, and many thanks to Chris for looking after us at the clay pigeon shooting.
With regards to the hotel (or "The House" to the staff), it has 19 rooms of luxury standard, all decorated in their own fashion. The communal hall, dining room, lounge, library and whisky bar are all set out in a traditional Highland style that fits the location perfectly. The lounge was the setting for our ceremony and the staff helped make it look amazing, perfect for our unforgettable day. The Whisky bar has over 300 Whiskys and the guests & I tried to get through most of them by the time we left.
Bruno (the chef) produced top quality meals on the Friday and Saturday, and our wedding guests still talk about them now, especially as Bruno was flexible enough to draw up and provide menus for the veggie and vegan's amongst us. The meat eaters also had a typical Highland feast and returned home more than happy. The breakfasts, welcome tea and pre-wedding brunch were also top notch.
Overall, it was an unforgettable weekend and the Torridon will always be a special place for Jane & I. If you are in that neck of the woods, you would be silly not to spend at least one night there!

Room Tip: Rooms with a view of the loch are a must.

“Luxury - with a personal touch”

I chose this hotel because I wanted to propose to my girlfriend in Wester Ross. The countryside is breathtaking but the hotel and staff at the Torridon made the whole experience unforgetable. From the moment we pulled up in the grounds of the hotel and stepped into the amazing entrance hall, we were made to feel right at home. I had been in contact with the hotel in advance to see if they could help make our stay even better and boy did they deliver. Upgraded room on arrival with stunning loch views, complimentary tea and cakes in the lounge, archery in the grounds and a wonderfully thoughtful personalised menu with "The Future Mrs Roesen" typed out at the top.

Our room was modern and contemporary with one of the biggest beds i've ever slept in and a gorgeous freestanding bath overlooking Upper Loch Torridon.

The staff were so lovely and had even recommended a good spot to pop the question (a viewpoint towards Lower Diabaig overlooking Loch Diabaigas Airde as the sun was setting). We then had an amazing dinner in the hotel - £50 a head was superb value considering the quality of the food. We also ate in the Torridon Inn next door which was equally lovely for a traveller looking for a more informal dining experience. The breakfast was equally superb with a wonderful selection of treats, prepared to the same exquisite standard as the dinner the night before.

The Torridon Hotel claims to provide 'luxury with a personal touch'. They deliver on this promise with breathtaking accuracy. I would not hesitate in returning to this fabulous place. Thank you to everyone at the Torridon Hotel!
