“Great place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2012

This is a really lovely B&B, set in a great location (a five minute walk from Tain town centre) with great views over the Dornoch Forth, beautiful gardens and lovely hosts. Guests are also given the use of a lounge (which we sadly didn't have time to use!). Our room was beautifully appointed with an enormous luxurious ensuite bathroom (with lots of nice toiletries), and a decadently comfortable bed!

And they do a great breakfast as well :)

After finding Golf View House online, I lingered over a pretty white and tartan bedroom which, on phoning to enquire about a booking, was the only one free for the two nights we required. Lucky choice! When we arrived, the room was even better than the photo with stylish cream furniture, a lovely big bed and two comfy suedette seats from which to admire the stunning views across the fields towards the Dornoch Firth and Dornoch itself. There was an amazing, large shower room with modern curved glass shower, soft towels, large mirror with lights above and quality toiletries. [It's room 5 by the way!]

Guests also had the use of a big comfortable lounge, equipped with a large TV, lots of books and good cosy seating. Plus those stunning views from the bay window. Outside, there was a very pleasant garden with seating and secure parking for cars.
The dining room had more tartan fabrics plus very special crockery from the local Tain pottery to add to the Scottish flavour.

Our hosts Bill and Sue were friendly and welcoming and obviously take a pride in sharing their beautiful home. We loved our two nights there as a base for exploring the area and enjoyed Tain itself, though some local information in the room folder about different places to visit or the history of Tain itself would have been very useful to strangers like us. Also some information about walks, churches and places to eat as a couple of crosses on a map didn't tell us whether we'd get a good meal or not! But we struck lucky and had an excellent meal at the Royal Hotel right in the centre of Tain and could just about manage the filling breakfast next morning.

Thoroughly recommend this beautiful former manse for a short or long stay as its a delightful place.

We went to Golf View House last weekend, it was a bit last minute but they were able to fit us in for one night. A lovely B&B, lots of space in our room, clean and a fab view. We sat in the guest lounge with the big TV and had a relaxing evening.

Breakfast was fab and we were set for our day.

This Friday will mark our fourth visit to enjoy Bill and Sues delightfull home. The breakfast is everything a trencherman should expect, the rooms are 5* and the Host and Hostess are perfect for their roles. The views from the hotel are idylic and should be used by the Scottish tourist board. The log cabin in the gardens is worth a look and i understand the Xmas barbecue is well worth a visit. this is outstanding value for money and a perfect base for golf, walks or a little Whiskey tasting!!

its a real shame its an 8 hour drive to get here or else i would be a more frequent visitor.

Room Tip: there arent any bad rooms!!

The Golf View in Tain was a quick one night stay on our way to Orkney this past June, 2012. This would be a great place to stay for a long visit. Bill and Sue were very kind. Our room was a double room with en-suite facilities. Clean and decorated nicely and was very spacious even with a 4-poster bed. The bathroom was spa like and had a wonderfuly large shower. The room also came with a small refrigerator which we really appreciated. Wifi in our room work well. Wonderful views from our room and a short distance to beautiful Tain. I loved the fruit compote at breakfast too…. Yum!

We had a very enjoyable stay at Golf View House which is a lovely building with beautiful rooms. Our en-suite shower room was absolutely fabulous and the breakfast was lovely. Everything about our one night stay was great and we would certainly recommend it to all.

We spent five nights in this lovely country house B & B and had a wonderful time. The view from the room was over farmland, the Tain Golf Club, over the Dornoch Firth into Dornoch - just beautiful. Beds were extremely comfortable and you couldn't ask for a better breakfast. Phil and Sue do a great job. And we are extremely picky. Highly recommend.
