“A Great Little Place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2014

I dined at this cafe whilst visiting the art and crafts fair at the pavilion in the quant little village Strathpeffer this week in the Scottish highlands I was there in the morning and had morning coffee and a banoffee cheese cake, which was delicious, the cafe leads into the pavilion gardens and I had a wander round there after, taking pictures of the beautiful plants, trees and redwood sculptures...there was a great choice of food and intend to come back again when in the area, I also won a bottle of wine in a charity raffle at the fair it was a good day all round

“Disappointing dinner after previous good lunch experience!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2014

We had previously been here for lunch and had soup, sandwiches and baked spuds which were very nice. The ambience is very nice and service was friendly and efficient. We went back for dinner based on our previous experience and were disappointed. On a positive note, it's great to see a large number of vegetarian options on the menu, starters and mains. My partner had mussels to start and they were served with a tasty white wine and garlic sauce with plenty of warm crusty bread. The mussels themselves were way overcooked and had the hallmarks of vacuum packing.Mains was venison stew which was tender enough but was tasteless and mash, also tasteless, which I can vouch for that as I tried it.The veggie dish I had was butternut squash with vegetables and a tomato sauce with salad. Again, great to see something new for vegetarians but could have been hotter and really needed something more than salad to accompany the dish. From a service point of view, nobody came to ask how our meal was either during the meal or when we paid for it. Hopefully our experience is just unfortunate as other reviews are very good. However, consistency is important to ensure repeated custom. Lots of tourists from across the globe come to Strathpeffer and will eat here and hopefully they will go away with a more positive experience than we did. I would recommend the cafe for lunch from our previous experience but, sadly, not for dinner based on our recent meal.

“Coffee morning at the Pavilion”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2014

We stayed in Strathpeffer with Shearings. Wednesday was our "free" day so we went to the Coffee Morning at the Pavilion. They are a very friendly and chatty group of ladies - all volunteers. The Pavilion is clean and warm and very welcoming. Didn't have a meal there, but I would imagine they are of very good quality.

Good food, with extensive menu and reasonable wine selection. Good value for money as well. Staff were excellent and very attentive. Would recommend the salmon.

Good food in a beautiful building and location. Strathpeffer is a gorgeous little village tucked away in a glen, well worth a visit.
